Minor Details: Games of April 28

Another fine game for Aaron Slegers.  Kohl Stewart pitched well, too.  Randy Dobnak might have been the best of all.

ROCHESTER 2, SYRACUSE 0 IN SYRACUSE

James Ramsey singled in a run in the second and Bobby Wilson doubled and scored in the eighth.  Aaron Slegers and two relievers took it from there.

The Red Wings had just six hits.  Gregorio Petit was the only starter batting over .240.  Wilson's 1-for-2 day raised his average to .091.  Slegers pitched six shutout innings, giving up four hits and two walks and striking out four.  His ERA is 1.50.  Nick Anderson struck out four in two shutout innings, giving up a walk.  His ERA is 0.82.  Gabriel Moya pitched a scoreless inning, giving up a hit and a walk and striking out one.

CHATTANOOGA 6, TENNESSEE 4 IN CHATTANOOGA

The Smokies scored three in the sixth to take a 4-2 lead, but the Lookouts came back with four in the seventh.  Zander Weil's two-run double brought home the go-ahead runs.

Nick Gordon was 2-for-2 with a double and a walk and is batting .354.  LaMonte Wade was 2-for-3 with a walk and is batting .313.  Tanner English was 0-for-2 and is batting .085.  Kohl Stewart pitched five innings, giving up one run on four hits and a walk and striking out three.  He threw 79 pitches.  Todd Van Steensel struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up two walks.  His ERA is 2.63.  Williams Ramirez struck out four in 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up a hit and a walk.

DAYTONA 7, FORT MYERS 3 IN FORT MYERS

The Tortugas scored two in the first, four in the second, and one in the third to build a 7-0 lead.  The Miracle scored all three of their runs in the seventh and had only three hits.

Joe Cronin was 1-for-3 with a walk and is batting .372.  Jimmy Kerrigan was 0-for-3 with a walk and is batting .346.  On the other side of the scale, Luis Arraez was 1-for-4 to raise his average to .091.  Brady Anderson pitched three innings, allowing all seven runs (six earned) on seven hits and a walk and striking out three.  Calvin Faucher pitched three shutout innings, giving up a hit and two walks and striking out two.  Hector Lujan struck out three in three shutout innings, giving up two hits.

CEDAR RAPIDS 2, QUAD CITIES 1 IN QUAD CITIES (GAME 1--7 INNINGS)

Royce Lewis singled home a run in the third to give the Kernels a 2-1 lead and it held up, thanks to the fine pitching of Randy Dobnak.

Jordan Gore was 3-for-3 and is batting .385.  Lewis was 1-for-3 with both RBIs and is batting .333.  Ben Rodriguez was 1-for-3 with a double and is batting .325.  Dobnak pitched a complete game, giving up one run on five hits and two walks and striking out six.

QUAD CITIES 4, CEDAR RAPIDS 1 IN QUAD CITIES (GAME 2--7 INNINGS)

The River Bandits took a 2-1 lead in the fourth and Jonathan Arauz hit a two-run homer in the fifth to provide some insurance.

The Kernels had just four hits.  Jordan Gore was 1-for-2 and is batting  .393.  Ben Rodriguez was 1-for-3 and is batting .326.  Royce Lewis was 0-for-3 and is batting .316.  Melvi Acosta, in his first game of the season, pitched 3.1 innings, giving up two runs on three hits and two walks and striking out two.  Ricky Ramirez, in his first game of the season, pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up a walk.
