BUFFALO 7, ROCHESTER 0 IN BUFFALO
This one was decided in the third inning, when the Bisons scored six runs. They added the extra point in the seventh inning. The Red Wings had just four hits.
Three of the nine Rochester starters have batting averages below .200. Jermaine Curtis, at .273, was the only one above .240. Dietrich Enns lasted just 2.2 innings, allowing five runs on four hits and two walks and striking out one. Mason Melotakis pitched two shutout innings, giving up three hits and striking out one. Alan Busenitz pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit and striking out one. His ERA is 1.13.
CHATTANOOGA 4, JACKSON 2 IN CHATTANOOGA
Alex Perez singled in a run in the fifth to break a 2-2 tie. Nick Gordon doubled home an insurance run in the sixth.
Gordon was 3-for-4 with a home run (his third) and two doubles, scoring twice and driving in two. He is batting .339. Perez was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk. He is batting .409. Travis Blankenhorn hit a three-run triple in a four-run fourth that gave the Miracle a 5-1 lead. It was 7-2 after seven, but the Stone Crabs scored four in the eighth to cut the lead to one. They had the tying run on second with two out in the ninth.
Jaylin Davis was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, his third. Taylor Grzelakowski was 1-for-2 with a home run (his third) and two walks, scoring twice. He is batting .322. Jared Foster was 1-for-4 with a home run. Joe Cronin was 1-for-3 and is batting .311. Charlie Barnes pitched 6.1 innings, giving up two runs on seven hits and a walk and striking out four. Andrew Vasquez struck out three in 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit. His ERA is 0.95.
DAYTON 5, CEDAR RAPIDS 4 IN DAYTON (10 INNINGS)
The Kernels trailed 4-1, but scored single runs in the sixth, seventh, and eighth to tie it and trigger the Manfred Rule. Cedar Rapids bunted their runner to third, but a pair of strikeouts ended the inning. With one out in the bottom of the tenth, Jeter Downs singled home the winning run.
Trey Cabbage was 2-for-3 with a double and two walks. Alex Kirilloff was 2-for-4 with a home run (his fifth) and a walk. David Banuelos was 2-for-4 with a double. Jose Miranda was 2-for-5. Bailey Ober struck out five in five innings, but allowed four runs on five hits and a walk. Jose Martinez struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk.
