We're going to have a to think of a better name...
Anyway, so DK, Nibbish, and myself made this thing. I assure you, it's appropriately half-baked. We recorded on Monday but I'm just getting it out now for several reasons which include trying to figure out how to make a podcast.
I'm going to attempt to get this on the usual podcast platforms, but I wanted to get this out here as such an amazing discussion with scorching hot takes needs to get out to the masses as soon as possible.
The videos DK and I discuss are Tree In Orange:
And Styx's Renegade:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAJNYmRc2p0
And we had a special guest pop in and discuss STAMPED: Racism, Antiracism, and You by Ibram X. Kendi and Jason Reynolds.
I fixed it. Play within the post now!
it's my mic that sucks by the way. i'm gonna work on that.
ALSO, hey, we need features. any suggestions?
Updated BKACs.
those are already under negotiation.
If you'd like to be considered, put your name below
I would like to be considered. Do you take bribes or empty promises?
WGOM? You know they do
Considering how waffling my scheduling is to do these, good luck coming up with an emptier promise than me.
I expect the game involving two letters that is completely different than the half played weekly on a local radio station to return sporadically this winter
Huzzah!
Excellent.
Mink/Kimbrough awesome picking.
The mention of vuvuzelas reminded me of John Paul Jones' "4 Minute Warning" from Brian Eno's Music for Films III
O.k. hear me out as this is something I've thought was true but never expressed it.
Renegade and Bohemian Rhapsody are different takes on the same events.
Both sung in the first person. Both refer to their mother as "mama." Both sing about some crime they committed (but not described), ran from the law, and now that they are caught (or about to be), paying the ultimate price with their life .
While BR is more wistful, it's a song to his mother about how sorry he is and that he hurt her, Renegade is much more defiant. I think even thought BR came out first, Renegade probably came first chronologically. He's still on the run, defiant... he's scared, that's why he reaches out to his mother... but nonetheless still pretty cocksure. BR is later, he's been caught, perhaps his last night before heading to the gallows and he's reflecting on all he's done, everyone he's hurt, especially his mother.
i've seen some blazing hot takes on this site, but THIS one... just wow.
heh, does this complete the trilogy?
Long Black Veil
I do like the three-person format better than a straight one-on-one.
By the way, anyone got a good name for this thing?
I was told there would be a poll.
I suppose we need options for a poll though. People toss out a few (which is more than I've got), then we can pit them against each other.
A Cup Of Joe
Heh.
Let's call it the "Cup of Coffee Podcast" to stick it back to Calcaterra!
The Yakker
The Rundown
Ducks on the Pondcast
WAR (Wgom's Attempt at Radio)
SOUND HIM!!!
Nice. Gray Ducks on the Pondcast? No, too much...
There is Ducks on the Pond.
I'm actually really liking "SOUND HIM!!" though that was just a toss-in initially.
Listening With Hokme.
Will You Just Shut Up, Man?!
