This is pretty good lol
Twenty years ago today:
Angel Hernandez's lawsuit alleging employment discrimination was dismissed yesterday.
What does "denied as moot" mean in legalese?
The resolution of other issues has rendered resolution of this particular issue unnecessary
Does it affect any kind of ability to appeal or anything?
Nope. They can appeal the main issue. If that gets reversed, then the mooted issue can also be considered in the future.
Does anyone read the CoC posts anymore?
Yes, but I brought the link!
wait, there's something to read in the Co'C's?
"anymore"?
Philistines...
You can always bring out the Shat until attitudes improve.
Who remembers the Mug of Beer (was that what they were called? I know I used a mug of beer for the picture) posts that I used to have at the end of Twins games back in the day?
Today's cufflinks:
A Valentine's gift from Philosofette.
Cool! What are "cufflinks"
Philistines...
Why are you wearing a tux?
It's after 6. What am I? A farmer?
Opening Day game time Zoom call info:
meeting ID: 835 3449 2264
6-digit password: #Twins games this a season and #wins we have to settle for right now
There may be some streaming video entertainment of some sort as well...
Kenta Maeda will be the first Twins starter to bat in an Opening Day ballgame since...
Nailed it on my second guess. Second comes right after first!
Moltke the Elder: No plan survives first contact with the enemy. (paraphrased)
MLB: Mets/Nationals Opening Day game postponed due to positive COVID tests.
Espn managed to completely miss the first part appearance of the season for a commercial break. Cash grab!
I also notice they focused on Gerrit Cole and his stats before providing the Toronto lineup. The next half inning started with the Yankees lineup before finally getting around to Ryu's stats.
Miguel Cabrera hits a two-run home run off Shane Bieber in a snowstorm in Detroit. Cabrera slid into second presumably because he couldn't see the ball went over the yellow line.
Career HR No. 350 for Miggy.
Why does it feel like this number should be higher?
It's because in the last few seasons he's about 80 HRs off of the pace he had going 5 through 10 years ago.
Because he started the season with 487 career home runs.
Sorry. No. 350 as a Tiger. 488 overall. Didn't stop and think about the fact he was going for 500 this season plus poor announcing by Tigers crew.
He is going for 3000 hits this year as well.
I feel better and mildly vindicated. Also, stupid, for not noticing when I looked at his career numbers.
With another run in the second, Bieber matches his season high for runs allowed in a start from last season, done multiple times. He didn't allow his third run of the season until his fourth start last year. No runs allowed in his first two starts and two runs in this third. He allowed three in his fourth start.
So who has today's game log? I volunteered for Thursdays but never got a confirmation, so I'm assuming it's not me.
It's you. There aren't many takers these days so first come, first serve.
Dammit.
Lawyer's creed: Never ask a question you don't already know the answer to.
I made one.
Got a call from our senior senator's office, asking if I would be available for a meet and greet next week with said senator. Wants to chat with me and another owner about federal aid packages to our industry and any other challenges we are facing. We are meeting her on my patio. I was recommended by our former and current mayors. I said yes with a bit of trepidation due to the current political climate. However, my social media answer to anyone who tries to call me out is this:
" If a sitting US senator wants to sit down with me regarding my business needs and challenges, I don't care if they are Republican, Democrat or from Mars... I will sit down with them and share my experiences with that person. "
That is the correct answer.
I hit a two run homer and all I got was this lousy single.
This is worse than fumbling the ball out of the back of the end zone. It went over the fence, they shouldn't even me required to circle the bases
I laughed.
White Sox are already getting La Russa-ed.
Good thing the White Sox spent so much money to sign Hendriks so he can sit in the bullpen and watch lefty Aaron Bummer face Trout, Rendon, Justin Upton, and Pujols with runners on base in a one-run game in the 8th inning. Angels score twice to take a 4-3 lead.
Gonna take quite a while for him to pick up the complicated newer nuances of the game like "leverage"
The Tigers and Royals are officially the class of the AL Central!
