  1. OK - not sure where this is going yet, but I bought a square of pork belly yesterday and just scored it with some olive olive oil/salt/pepper and am letting it marinade.

    Maybe Cubano sammie?

      1. I bought a package of pork belly last Sunday from Costco, intending to make this again. But still have not gotten around to it. I hope it hasn't gone bad....

(That recipe, btw, is awesome, but verrrry rich for the obvious reasons)

      2. So i drove down to the Barrio and bought some Puerto Rican bread rolls.

After the pork belly was done, I sliced it thin, then NBBW put the pork on the PR rolls with Swiss cheese, slices of pickle, and mustard, then she toasted them on her grill-pan. Awesome-village.

        1. Reminds me, after the game tomorrow I want to hit up el Mercado Central for some La Loma tamales. ¡Cielos, son sabrosos!

  2. I'm back, and Minor Details, covering the last three days of games, is now up.

      1. You people and your long memories.

Sorry, but nothing matched your search terms. Please try again with some different keywords.

          1. You people. Also, there does not seem to be an obvious way to search comments on (droid) mobile anymore.

            1. I did that search on mobile. Go to Dashboard, then comments, and scroll to the bottom for the search box.

    1. I did not understand bringing Stashak into the game last night in that situation. I get that you don't want to bring in your top reliever (whoever that may be) in the seventh inning when you're behind, but the bullpen was fully rested. Was Stashak really the best option there? I'm sure Rocco was hoping he could get the job done, but as has been observed here many times, hope is not a strategy. When Stashak came in, it basically felt like Rocco was conceding the game.

      1. Dobnak only faced three batters that inning, so Stashak had to be warming up when the inning started or after the first batter reached. You can't plan for the first three batters reaching, and when you're already trailing by two runs and have a win expectancy of just 19% when the inning began, you can't be using your best relievers or warming up multiple relievers for contingency plans. Of the relievers you wouldn't want to save for a tie game or for when the Twins have a lead, Stashak is probably the best option to try to get out of a situation like that anyway because he's sriking out about 15 per 9. He just didn't execute and strike batters out like he has previously. And it seems like regardless of who pitches for the Twins this year, inherited runners are scoring anyway.

        1. I continue to disagree that, with a fully rested bullpen, Stashak was the best option in that situation.

  3. Speaking of pork. I was up at the crack of dawn to fire up the smoker. 9 pounds of pork on the WSM, soon a rack of ribs and some chicken thighs. I'm feeding a mess of people at a pool party populated by vaccinated friends. Weird.

  4. Just noticed that the pregame ground rules video at Target Field this season still displays Shatner singing when discussing the prohibition on foul language.

    1. Twins have a .746 with RISP and .706 with no one on base. Generating opportunities with RISP has been a much worse problem than actually cashing in on them. When you don't have many opportunities to score, it just stands out when you don't cash in on them. They have a .291 OBP leading off innings.

  5. There’s a heck of a soccer match going on right now and you can watch it on CBS.

    1. My favorite part of WW84 was my son saying, "Wait, did this just turn into Cats?!"

      1. That was mine too.

Who said "We've got Kristen Wiig looking fine as hell right now, but something's missing. You know what? We gotta get on this 'Cats' bandwagon."

    1. Yes. Until they finish adding Negro League games and then it happened earlier.

  6. If you go to an all-inclusive in Mexico and your floor has a bar for the elite club members that you can get to go drinks from, tip you bartender and make small talk. I got a free 200 ml bottle of mezcal just now.

      1. I'll take it. It's something I wouldn't have gotten had I not ordered mezcal margs all week.

  7. Looks like we are verging on a pair of first-round sweeps in the NBA East.

Miami was totally outclassed by Milwaukee. Washington appears to have the same relationship with Philly.

    1. "Hooked on a Feeling", yeah, but Blue Swede made it big - they should be calling out "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head" if anything. I personally liked "Using Things and Loving People"

  8. Today was Elder Daughter's birthday. We were driving home from Brainerd and just getting ready to call her when she called us to say that her boyfriend is now her fiancé. We're very happy, he's a good man and we like him a lot. No immediate plans, but I better start socking some wedding money away now.

    1. I don't remember discussing it here, but I do remember rejoicing in it, since he is one of my least favorite players.
