  1. Early observations of CO: gas prices are $.80 to $1 higher than in StL, and yet they don't seem to be spending thr taxes on their highways, because they're deficient in basic quality.

Our vrbo is in the foothills of the foothills of Pikes Peak, and two days in a row now we've had deer meander through the yard. Nice

    1. Didn't you mention something about the UP Big Boy steam locomotive the other day? I noticed a bunch of people with cameras hanging out on the levee of the Mississippi on Friday when traveling to a warehouse on River Road. We walked up and asked a dude with a telephoto lens what we were looking for when the train crested the top of the Huey P Long bridge. Pretty impressive thing to see. We chatted for a bit with the train dudes, and I mentioned that one of my first gigs was working for the Depot in Duluth. Never have I ever experienced the onslaught of sincere questions about working with the train collection...... I had no answers for most of them, but they were and interested, and interesting, bunch of folks.

      1. Railfans are a dedicated bunch, no doubt about it. It's been years since I visited the Depot as a kid, but I still remember it fondly.

We have our reservations for Wednesday AM for the cog railway to the top of Pikes Peak, and hopefully we can see 4014 Big Boy on our drive home in two weeks. One of the eight remaining Big Boys is on display at the Museum of Transportation in StL, so they'll be able to wave at each other as 4014 passes by it.

        1. Say hello to the marmots for me. It’s a nice ride, way better than driving up to the top. Great views from up there.

    2. Fwiw, our local Costco price right now is around 4 bucks a gallon...and we have a lot of pretty bad roads....

  2. I am not begging for votes or anything like that, but voting is enabled now (I had it as an audio post, not video) on today's video if you tried earlier and couldn't.

    1. We always put out a hummingbird feeder when we camped in the mountains. If you’re patient and slow you can get them to perch on your finger while they eat.
