The Clippers scored two in the first and led all the way.

Batting star:  Mark Contreras was 1-for-2 with a double and a walk.

Pitching star:  Ryan Mason pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up two walks and striking out one.

Opposition stars:  Steven Kwan was 2-for-4 with a double.  Jose Fermin was 1-for-3 with a two-run homer.  Heath Fillmyer struck out seven in six shutout innings, giving up three hits and two walks.

StarterBeau Burrows pitched 4.1 innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits and no walks and striking out four.

Good stats:  Jose Miranda was 1-for-3 and is batting .328.

The Clippers scored five in the seventh to win it.  Bryan Lavastida hit a walkoff three-run homer.

Batting stars:  Tomas Telis was 4-for-5 with a triple and two runs.  Caleb Hamilton was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs.  J. T. Riddle was 2-for-4 with a double.  Gilberto Celestino was 2-for-5.

Pitching stars:  Yennier Cano struck out three in 2.2 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and two walks.  Kyle Barraclough struck out three in 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit.

Opposition stars:  Steven Kwan was 2-for-3 with a two-run homer (his second), two walks, and three runs.  Gabriel Arias was 2-for-3 with two doubles, a walk, and four RBIs.  Lavastida was 2-for-4 with a three-run homer.

Bad stats:  B. J. Boyd was 1-for-4 and is batting .107.  Garcia made his AAA debut and has an ERA of 18.00.  Vinny Nittoli allowed two runs in a third of an inning in his Saints debut and has an ERA of 54.00.

ST. PAUL 1, COLUMBUS 0 IN COLUMBUS (GAME 2--7 INNINGS)

Drew Maggi singled home the game's only run in the second inning.

Pitching stars:  Charlie Barnes pitched five shutout innings, giving up two hits and a walk and striking out three.  Nick Vincent struck out three in a scoreless inning, giving up a hit and a walk.  Edgar Garcia pitched a perfect inning and struck out one.

David Sheaffer hit a walkoff homer in the ninth.

Pitching stars:  Simeon Woods Richardson pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up no hits and three walks and striking out two.  Tyler Beck struck out five in five shutout innings, giving up four hits and three walks.  Adam Lau retired all five men he faced, striking out two.

Opposition stars:  George Kirby struck out seven in six shutout innings, giving up four hits and no walks.  Sheaffer was 1-for-4 with a home run, his second.

Good stats:  Roy Morales was 1-for-4 and is batting .304.  Woods Richardson has an ERA of zero.  Beck has an ERA of 2.66.

A three-run seventh gave the Kernels and 8-6 lead.

Fort Myers led 4-3, but the Tortugas scored once in each of the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings.

Pitching star:  Cade Povich struck out six in three innings, giving up one run on three hits and a walk.

Opposition stars:  Jose Torres was 4-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs.  James Marinan struck out five in five innings, giving up one run on three hits and a walk.

Good stats:  Encarnacion-Strand is batting .409.

Pitching stars:  Regi Grace struck out five in three shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk.  Zaquiel Puentes pitched a scoreless inning, giving up two walks and striking out one.  Logan Campbell struck out four in two perfect innings.  A. J. Labas struck out three in a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.
