  1. My uncle's obit.

There's some very interesting military service there. He never really talked about it, but the family has always read between the lines, and I know he encouraged (unsucessfully) one of his younger brothers not to join the service. Personally, I've always thought more about his sense of humor and acting ability. I've heard stories about how good he was in high school and always saw it in family settings. He reminded me of Robin Williams (physically I think they looked a bit of like too). I kind of always wondered "what if" he had tried to take a different path in life.
He did pretty well on the path he chose too. He will be missed.

      1. Thanks.

Side note: I'm finding that I'm directing the residual anger around his death at well-wishers who aren't vaccinated. I'm frustrated at people telling me I have their sympathies when they're tempting the same fate!

        1. Tough. I've done some imagining about how I'd behave if I was in a similar situation with someone close. I don't think I'd handle it gracefully.

    1. Sorry again for your family's loss.

I note that he grew up in Foley. The Roommate is from Foley.

      1. IIRC, the Roommate's brother graduated with my uncle (and his twin, who is also a doctor, like the Roommate's brother).

        1. I shared the obit with him. He was saddened to hear, mentioning that he knew your uncle and (particularly) his younger siblings.

  2. Anyone here with knowledge about treatment for spinal stenosis? Philosofette has had some laser therapy (not surgery) recommended by a chiropractor and it seems (as lots of chiropractor stuff does to me) not real. I'm finding almost no real medical literature about it, but that's largely because I'm drowning in chiropractors touting the benefits, and I can't drink from this firehose.
