Minor Details: Games of July 13

The Saints get a split.  A surging offense in Wichita.  A big day for Christian Encarnacion-Strand.

ST. PAUL 11, TOLEDO 6 IN ST. PAUL (COMPLETION OF SUSPENDED GAME)

The Saints scored four in the fifth to take a 10-5 lead.

Tim Beckham was 3-for-4 with a walk.
Mark Contreras was 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs.
Michael Helman was 2-for-5 with two home runs (his fifth and sixth) and three RBIs.
Jake Cave was 1-for-4 with a two-run homer (his twelfth), a walk, and two runs.
Caleb Hamilton was 1-for-3 with a two-run homer (his tenth) and two walks.
John Andreoli was 1-for-2 with two walks and three runs.
Miguel Sano was 1-for-1 with a double, a walk, and two RBIs.

Starter Cole Sands pitched two innings, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks and striking out four.
Hunter Wood struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up two walks.
Wladimir Pinto struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up one hit.

TOLEDO 8, ST. PAUL 2 IN ST. PAUL (SCHEDULED GAME--7 INNINGS)

Leading 3-2, the Mud Hens scored five in the sixth.

Michael Helman was 2-for-3.

Starter Ronny Henriquez pitched four innings, giving up three runs on seven hits and two walks and striking out four.
Drew Strotman struck out three in 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and one walk.

The Saints are 41-44, in eighth place in the International League West, a half-game behind sixth-place Gwinnett and Indianapolis, eleven games behind Nashville.

WICHITA 16, ARKANSAS 12 IN WICHITA

Matt Wallner was 4-for-4 with a double, a walk, three runs, and four RBIs.
Anthony Prato was 4-for-5 with a double and three runs.
Cole Sturgeon was 3-for-5 with a three-run homer (his seventh), a double, and three runs.
DaShawn Keirsey, Jr. was 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs.
Edouard Julien was 2-for-4 with a triple, a walk, and two runs.
Nash Knight was 2-for-5 with a triple and two runs.  He's not a prospect, but "Nash Knight" is a great name for a ballplayer.
Chris Williams was 2-for-6 with a home run (his eleventh) and four RBIs.

Starter Sawyer Gipson-Long pitched 4.2 innings, allowing seven runs on nine hits and no walks and striking out six.
Denny Bentley pitched three innings, giving up one run on three hits and no walks and striking out two.

The Wind Surge is 7-7, tied for second with Arkansas in the Texas League North, one game behind Springfield.

CEDAR RAPIDS 4, BELOIT 2 IN BELOIT

The Kernels scored three in the fifth to take a 4-2 lead.

Christian Encarnacion-Strand was 3-for-4 with a home run (his twentieth), a double, two runs, and three RBIs.
Seth Gray was 2-for-3 with a walk.

Starter Jon Olsen pitched one inning, allowing two runs on two hits and one walk and striking out two.
Matthew Swain struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up one hit.
Orlando Rodriguez struck out three in three shutout innings, giving up two hits.
Tyler Palm pitched two perfect innings, striking out one.
Ryan Shreve pitched a perfect inning.

The Kernels are 8-9, tied for third with Beloit in the Midwest League West, five games behind South Bend.  The Kernels won the first-half championship.

FORT MYERS 6, CLEARWATER 2 IN FORT MYERS

The Mighty Mussels scored four in the fourth to break a 1-1 tie.

Noah Cardenas was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, his fourth.
Kala'i Rosario was 2-for-4.
Noah Miller was 1-for-2 with two walks.

Jaylen Nowlin struck out seven in four innings, giving up an unearned run on four hits and no walks.
Juan Mendez struck out two in two perfect innings.
Anthony Escobar pitched two shutout innings, giving up one hit and one walk and striking out one.

The Mighty Mussels are 5-9, in fifth place in the Florida State League West, one game behind fourth-place Lakeland, 5.5 games behind Bradenton.  The Mighty Mussels won the first-half championship.
