    1. Good thing the Twins opened that new ballpark *checks notes* a dozen years ago so they can compete with more successful teams like *checks notes again*…the Orioles, Pirates, & Rockies?

    2. Because winning division titles over the course of a grueling six month campaign means nothing compared to playing past the first round in the SSS crapshoot that is the postseason.

      1. When you play in the worst division in baseball, I don't think that is a huge accomplishment. Especially when you pad your record with the unbalanced schedule.

        1. Two division wins in the last ten years, in at best the fifth division of the league, also isn't a pattern of success. They did add a wildcard berth five years ago.

        2. It's not the biggest accomplishment in baseball, but the chart is pretty ridiculous to act like it's nothing. Just off the top of my head, I'd rather have the last 10 years of the Twins than the Pirates or Mariners.

          1. It’s arbitrary, for sure, but the Twins have neither sustained their success nor built from a platform in any of the years when they’ve had regular season success.

Would I take the last ten years of the Twins over the past decade of the Orioles or Marlins? Sure. Am I glad the Twins aren’t owned by Bob Nutting or Dick Monfort? Certainly. But that’s setting the bar awfully low, and the Pohlads could quite reasonably act like they own a semi-competitive sports franchise instead of an entertainment subsidiary of a wealth management company.

    1. Maybe he'll prove me wrong, but it looks to me like he'll simply take up space that could be used for other purposes.

      1. I was hoping, but I didn't really expect Correa to come back, so I can't say honestly say I'm disappointed.

        1. Yeah, when I read about contract negotiations I generally end up shaking my head and muttering when is too much ever going to be enough for these guys?

      2. I think the Giants deal is dumb, but that’s a dumb offer too. It had to be at least $320M over some long time period after the Turner and Bogaerts deals. I could see drawing the line at $320M or $340M, but $285M was never going to be enough unless it was a 6-year deal or something.

    1. That total amount is what I expected. Lindor signed for $341 million at a similar age, so Correa would seek to at least match that.
