  1. OK - last year.

Almost died due to a duadonal ulcer - spent 7 weeks in the ICU - couldn't eat or drink for most of that, and had to watch endless ads of crunchy Cheetos, Snoop and Martha drinking Coronas, and cannibalistic cereal (cinnamon toast crunch), none of which i could partake.

Went from big house to spa hotel where I had to learn to walk again and graduated to commode, then adult bathroom.

Finally back home, and am up to 56 people that have done Walk With Bo (you are all invited - I'm up to 3 miles). 2023 for me will be Tokyo and Sardegna.

    1. Pops told me the most torturous part of his stays in the hospital when he was conscious but restricted to IV “nutrition” were the endless ads for food, or when he was restricted from even sipping fluids, the ads for Wisconsin Dells’ waterparks. I’m not sure if reminders of what was certainly in that water helped or not.

Glad you broke out of the больница and are progressing down the path of recovery, NBB. С Новым годом!

  2. We're trying to take a trip with each of our kids individually when they're 10 or 11. This year will be Aristotle, taking a trip to NYC. I've never been (a wedding in Queens for a day was the closest I've gotten), so I'm looking forward. Pretty sure Hamilton will be on the docket.

    1. Yes! We do this as well and it has been great! Our last one is in 2023. We’ve take them all to Montreal, and we’re looking forward to it. Though figuring out _when_ we can do it in 2023 is going to be hard.

      Have a blast!

  3. Currently on my list is to clean up the downed tree leaning on my house. Oh, and getting power back.

    1. If you haven’t bought a chain saw, I can vouch for the EgoPower unit I bought this summer when a neighbor’s 60’ maple fell on our house.

      1. I got a Toro 60V chainsaw this summer and was very pleasantly surprised by the power and run time. I already had the Toro leaf blower and pole saw so I wanted to keep things in the same battery pack family.

        1. I’m looking to divest myself from more of my gas-powered tools this year. I’m thinking the lawnmower will be the last to go , as it was a hand-me-down of indeterminate age, it has the least secondhand value. I might as well run it until it breaks. But I’d love to replace the gas two-stage snowblower with an electric equivalent. Also on the block: the two-cycle weed whipper & leaf blower roof gutter blaster.

            1. Went to electric mower this summer and am loving it. 1) NBBW can start it; 2) i don't have to get gas;3) don't have to drain gas in the fall; 4) smaller footprint makes for easier handling; 5) can use same battery packs as leaf/blower and weed whacker.

          1. Snow and lawn cutting are my only fossil fuel tools. I can't go with an electric push mower due to the size of the yard (or I be fine with it taking twice as long) so I'm aiming to make the grass part smaller next year.

            1. I was going to buy a Ryobi, since I already have the mower and blower. But one of my neighbor friends brought over his never-used 1991 model Husqvarna (IIRC). His dad had bought it and never used it. When his dad passed this fall, his mom gave it to him. Had to replace the fuel line (plastic had disintegrated), but otherwise works fine.

  4. I think the best thing the Vikings could do is to win in absolute blowouts the next two games. Then lay a big fat egg in the playoffs, possibly after one more playoff blowout win. This is how you best Vikings your fans in 2022-2023.

  5. Elder Daughter is getting married in September and when she graduates they're moving back to Minnesota, and by fall I should have my dental implant.

    1. I can now vouch for the niceness that is the implant. I'm still cautious about my eating, but I'm not hiding my smile anymore!

        1. I'm going on 2 years with a chunk missing from a molar. It has never hurt, so I've never bothered to get it checked. Maybe I should make that my goal for this year

  6. One of the advantages of living here is fewer Vikings games on TV.

Was at my local brewery for a pint and the fourth quarter and OT of the 49ers game.

PG&E now says now power tonight. They didn't say we would have power tomorrow.
