  1. Ameren finally adjusted our budgeted electric bill amount for next year; looks like the EV is costing us ~$8 a month. I'm pretty sure it's at least that much in gas that I'm saving filling up the other car less, too.

  2. Rory the foster puppy (aka Cujo) is stealthy, sneaky fast, and really likes pumpkin pie. I only turned by back for a second and my slice was gone in a flash. This came well after she almost pulled the turkey down from the table. She spent the rest of the big meal in her kennel after that stunt. I have to keep reminding myself that she's not neurotic, she's just a puppy. I think she'll make a wonderful dog for the right folks, maybe an active single or couple, I don't know how she'd do with kids because she gets very defensive very fast when she imagines a threat. Based on appearance and behavior I'm thinking she's more cattle dog than collie, she's very smart and friendly but not terribly affectionate or cuddly. In other dog news, we got Will's DNA test results back and he's an Australian Border Great German Retriever Shepard Collie. At 22% she's more Border Collie than anything. From there she's 13% Austrian Shepard and 7% cattle dog, 11% Great Pyrenees, 7% Golden Retriever, 7% Dalmatian, and then a bunch of other breed at less than 5% (2% Chihuahua and Chow Chow, really?), so a total of 16 breeds identified in him. Behold, the mighty mutt.

    1. Jeebus, I can't get genders straight even when I'm talking about dogs. Will's pronouns are he/him/his.

    1. I have a feeling it won't be truly awful until seeing it live. But as it stands, I hate all of these.

        1. I actually hadn't played in a week or more, but broke it out today for some reason and it clicked. I had 3 at .3. I'm no Will Young or Matt Trueblood (I'd love to watch the two of them go head to head naming obscure baseball players in various categories), but today felt good.

    1. I did my rear pads and rotors last weekend and found out my parking brake pads are wafer thin so I still need to do that. I have the parts to do the front brakes, too, but today I'm cleaning out my garage so I can do that inside with the heater running. Looks like the cold weather is settling in for a spell, but I don't see any snow in the ten day forecast.

      1. I needed to replace one of the rotors, but I, as always, stripped one of the frickin screws holding it in so it'll have to do until I can get it to a shop. Ugh, I hate that they use screws like that when the lugs work perfectly fine to hold them in place.

        1. Impact divers and E-Z Outs are good investments. Otherwise a lot of heat and some hammering might loosen it enough to turn if you can get any grip with your screwdriver.

          1. there are two screws. The first one I stripped and I've never had great luck getting these things out. The rotor isn't too bad, though, plus its a rear brake so not as critical.

            1. I can honestly say, that has never happened to me while replacing brake pads. I can also honestly say that I have never attempted to change my own brake pads. When I was a teenage, our driveway was full of mid 70's Mopar vehicles. Those vehicles are famous for the starters failing. I was the lucky son who was taught by my father to change out the starter. It was fairly easy procedure other than the damn things always failed when it was below zero outside. Probably changed 15 starters between the ages of 12-20. I also would change out batteries, spark plugs, etc for the 4-5 family vehicles. As a result of all of this, I decided to pay others to work on my vehicles, once I started my career. Fortunately, I have been able to find a great mechanic in each town I have lived in.

  3. Outside lights are up; tree is up and decorated; cards, stamps, and Xmas stationery purchased -- pretty good progress before our week at Riviera Maya coming up.
