January 19, 2024: Vexillology

The vendors are quick. I found a pretty cheap new Minnesota flag online, so naturally I had to pull the trigger. It's currently hanging a portrait fashion. Wondering if I should change it to landscape...

  1. Estrellas scored three in the first and defeated Escogido 4-0. Ex-Twin Yangervis Solarte was 1-for-4 with a double. Wilin Rosario was 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs. Jorge Martinez pitched five innings, giving up four hits and striking out three, to get the win.

The win clinches the round-robin championship for Estrellas. I'm not sure, but it looks like now they play the second place team in a best-of-seven series.

  2. We were in Minnesota over the long weekend, and after a day or two, G suddenly pipes up from the back seat, "I've been looking everywhere, and nobody has the new flag up at all." He was sorely disappointed at the slow (in his mind) adoption.

  3. I'm about five weeks post-op now and feeling quite a bit better, not really normal yet but seeing incremental improvement almost every day. I haven't used any prescription or OTC pain meds for more than two weeks now and my blood pressure has calmed back down and stabilized. Food tastes normal again and bowel function is improving all the time as my intestines adapt to their new configuration. Tomorrow I'm heading to St. Cloud to watch the Huskies take on North Dakota so I'm pretty excited to get out of the house and do something normal again.

      1. Hope you are feeling better soon. You've inspired me to get my shingles vaccine next week, I don't want to deal with that shit ever.

        1. I did sleep 6 hours straight last night, which is a step in the right direction. During the day, I don't know if the pain has truly diminished or if, after 12 days, my increased tolerance for pain just makes it feel that way.

    1. Pretty good article on the game. I loved this line:

Thursday night he went into a brief fugue state and ripped off 13 points on five shots in three minutes, during a first-half stretch of play where his teammates were otherwise mostly asleep.

Also included a link to this 2 minutes of Naz Reid highlights.

      1. I was watching when he came when they were down by nine points or so and promptly gave them the lead, and it was a joy to watch.
