    1. Happy baseball indeed!

Other than my daughter (whose nickname is "Sunny") being particularly sad about a certain departure from the pitching staff, my family is feeling very optimistic about this year. Buxton in CF! Pablo Lopez and Joe Ryan and Bailey Ober! Correa being able to move on his feet, leading the squad to victory! A whole freaking season of Royce Lewis! Seriously, can you imagine all the Grand Slams?!?! Brooks Lee waiting in the wings!

Sure, a million things can go wrong, and nothing they did this offseason is exciting. But this was a team hugely on the rise last year. They won a playoff series. Full stop. This version of the Twins actually won a playoff series!!! So I'm as optimistic as I've ever been. Usually that ends poorly, but this feels like a different type of optimism. I'm optimistic that they'll be a team that puts in the work, gets a good number of wins, but isn't flashy or trendy or anything else. They'll take some lumps, they'll power through. They're just going to reliably take care of business like the good workaday Midwesterners they represent.

Here's hoping for a great season!

      1. One thing I think about whenever I hear that the Twins didn't do much this offseason is that the front office didn't do very much during the trade deadline last year either, and they ended up doing all right in the postseason

    1. It's insane that Lore and A-Rod couldn't come up with the money to pay $1.5 billion for a franchise that is worth $2.5 billion. If I was Glen, I'd kill the sale too if they ran out of options. Now he can reposition the sale and get it's full worth. This isn't going away, he's 82 years old and wants to settle his affairs before he dies. Of course it's complicated by the fact the Lore/A-Rod own 40% of the team.
