WGOM Fitness: 15 January 2013, Resolution Day

As promised, today is Resolution Day. I hope to have a monthly Resolution Day, every 15th of the month to encourage concrete goal setting

On this first Resolution Day, I want to make two goals: a weight loss goal and a workout goal. This morning, I weighed 215.0 pounds. My goal for the month is to lose six pounds. I think that's attainable (I know it's attainable). In addition, I want to accomplish 20 workouts. The easy part of this equation is when I am in Minnesota. I can go to the gym and workout on equipment that I like and take classes. It's a lot harder in North Dakota. I am forced to ride my parents' AirDyne and there's something about that thing that I don't like. That thing is where the seat is placed fore and aft with respect to the pedals. I was very uncomfortable and I think it puts a strain on my knees. I rode it the last two nights and I think last night was a lot better than the night before. Anyways, I may have to figured out something else there.

I hope you will join me in making smaller resolutions every month and shooting for those goals. I know that I worked out at least 20 times in the last month and that I'm at least six pounds (8.5 pounds) lighter than I was a month ago. Here's to a successful month!

  1. I want to start getting up at a reasonable time more regularly so I can do yoga 3-4 times a week in the mornings.

I've been weighing in around 167 this week. I want to be 173 by this time next month.

  2. I want to continue going to a spinning class at least once a week and also make it to the gym for cario at least two other days.

  3. After thinking about this a bit last night, I also decided 20 workouts between now and the 15th was a good idea. I have a lot of trouble working out on weekends, so that'll be the particular challenge (either getting enough in during the week or finding an opportunity to do something during the weekends).

  4. I found out this morning that it is possible to overdress when running in 10 degree weather. I was expecting 0.

    1. Nothing is more annoying than while on a run and trying to decide whether you should shed a layer and carry it, or just deal with being too hot.

        1. On my last half, our Fleet Feet coach said - don't wear long pants or gloves as you will regret it after mile 1 - I ignored his advice - he was right.
