Cleveland kneecapped any chance of winning a Division crown. The hope for the rest of the season is to pile stats and maybe stay above .500.
Another day, another new Twins player. Its really getting hard to know who is on the roster and who isn't. Its Kennys Vargas back up? Lew Ford? Kent Hrbek? who knows!! I do know Mitch Garver comes to town. Hopefully he gets playing time.
Ervin Santana goes tonight. We got a chance.
Intimations of Gardy being elected to the Twins HoF someday; I wonder how how far removed from the skid that ended his tenure they'll need to get before that happens.
I think once he is done with coaching, he'll get his number retired (Although Dillon Gee is currently wearing #35)
Twins have been to the postseason 11 times in team history and Gardy was the manager for six of those. He could and should be put in next year.
So many of those aughts division titles , though, came when the division was in horrible shape.
Showtime.
If Cuddyer is in, just about anybody could be.
Be advised: Ángel Hernández is the plate ump tomorrow.
Gardy not the only former Twin at the park tonight.
Read elsewhere that Radke is also there.
Certainly seemed like Bradke was pitching in the first inning.
Santana pitched like vintage Radke.
stand up triple. oofta thats fast!
Wheels.
Seen in several places about Buxton doing well since August 1. But you can include his short July to get a robust .341/.402/.476. Not so much in June or April.
His swing and his confidence are just on an entirely different level than they were a couple of months ago
Ausgezeichnet!
BUUUUUUUUUXXXXTONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!
When he was rounding third, I thought "no way he scores", but that dude is FAAAAAST
Did FSN show a replay? I though he may have been spinning his wheels rounding third
Looked like that to me, too.
Video link.
I don't think he spun his wheels as much as was tiptoeing trying to make sure he touched the bag. I don't think he was quite full speed going into first either until it bounced off the wall and he still set a statcast record for an ITPHR.
Broke his own record.
Note to opposing outfielders : do NOT misplay bounces off the fence when Buxton is hitting.
WHEELS!!!!!!!
The tough half of the cycle is done.
Buxton should hit a ground rule double just to switch things up. I wonder how many cycles were completed with inside-the-park homers & ground rule doubles...
There hasn't been a cycle hit with an inside the park homer since 1943.
Dick's doing his best in this interview with Mary Reuland, but he's no Studs Terkel.
Buxton's homer is the fastest of the Statcast era: 13.85 seconds. He held the previous record (14.05), too.
is that the travel time for the ball, or for him rounding the bases?
One more to go Buxton....
Another really nice hit by Buxton. Just a single away now.
Whoo!
I bet if Buxton gets another hit, he'd have to deliberately stop at first.
Seems like he could bunt a double.
I love when Gameday forgets to paint the stadium, and all you see is the batter facing the mound and a flat, endless horizon.
holy bejeebus Sano. that ball landed in St Cloud
My goodness, he destroyed that ball.
I have trouble believing that was only 440 feet.
Everyone says that and I think it's because we expect more of a parabola. In reality, the home runs lose a lot of their horizontal velocity at the end and drop very quickly.
Yes.
Still...
I don't look where I thought it was going. I look where it landed.
Boqueton!
The future is heating up.
ESCOBAR!
the concrete has settled tonight
So, so close to the cycle
I tuned in at 4-3, watched a double play get induced, and it's been all fun from there. Wee!
Dozier got his money's worth.
BOCQUETÓN!!
That one landed in Duluth
Holy cow.
I hope Buxton gets no more at bats.
Former Twins great Chris Herrmann is batting a cool .158/.251/.322 /.574 this season for Arizona.
He was very good as a catcher/utilityman last season. This season is... much closer to the way he played for the Twins.
We're back to "in the season ended today..." talks!
These Diamondback unis in the conversation of UGLIEST. EVER.
