Twins in the beginning of a long stretch of games against sub-500 teams, with very few teams more sub-500 than the Chicago White Sox. The third game of a rare five game tilt against the Pale Hose has Gibby once again trying to get keep the Twins in the playoff hunt. Lucas Giolito up for the Sox. He’s one of the prospects received in the Adam Eaten trade last December and the apparently the Southsiders want to see what they got.

This will be featured in my upcoming Father Knows Best posting but the eldest now has a real job working for Guaranteed Rate Mortgage in Chicago, ironically enough 5 blocks from Wrigley Field. I am hoping that next year we can secure some sweet stadium sponsor tix and I will go down and check out “New Comisky.” Until then I will be enjoying the view of Guaranteed Rate Field from my Barcalounger.

  2. Gladden predicted that Gibson would go at least seven innings tonight. I hope he's right.

    1. His yesterday story about trying to pay Nik Turley $200 to walk from the dugout to the bullpen with one pants leg rolled way up on Sunday was amusing.

  7. I'm glad they have a sign indicating that yes, the White Sox do in fact play at that park.

  10. Gibson is pretty crappy on his own, I don't think he needs to also be killed by a thousand tiny paper cuts.

  15. Gibson is the new bassist for the Wiggles. (actually, does that count Wiggling if you strike them out?)

  20. Jorge Polanco has hit 10 career home runs. 5 have come against the White Sox, and all those in Chicago. crazy!

    I really hope sometime soon someone just puts him in the lineup and gives him a chance to show what he can do.

      1. Ideally, yes, but if the Twins don't want to give him that chance I'd like them to send him to someone who does.

      1. He's been streaky. Every time he's hit a cold streak, the Twins have shipped him out rather than letting him try to work his way out of it. Maybe he wouldn't be able to, but we don't know, because he's never gotten the chance.

    1. It's not your fault that a guy named Bummer plays for the sad sack white Sox and immediately made an error.

    1. Funny thing about Swizzlesquatch is that once he left the Twins, his k/9 rate skyrocketed.

  33. Trevor Hildenburger was a 22nd round pick in the 2014 draft. He is the lowest draft pick that signed with his team to make it to the majors out of the draft (so far) The next lowest round player is Greg Mahle of the Angels, a 15th rounder.

    1. The crowds have been so quiet/sparse one of the mics has been picking up pretty much anything the ump barks out.
