This was a big one, gang. I was the same age as Jacob Wetterling when he disappeared (as were many of you). It still stings, though we knew how this was ending years ago.

September 8, 2016: Somebody’s Birthday
I know I should be remembering the birthday of a friend of mine today, but I can't remember which friend it is.
September 7, 2016: Second Day of School
I hope it begins better than the first. Due to the epically long storm, I had to take the Milkmaid to the transit station at 6:30, and my daughters' buses arrive at 7:30 and 9:06. All of that happened before work at 9:30. This could be a long few years with them in different schools.
September 3, 2016: The Burning
My apartment caught fire a couple of mornings ago. The one above me, to be precise. The girls and I were responding to the fire alarm with some apathy until I smelled smoke and realized it was no drill.
Through this fire, we went to my mom's, which indirectly led to my learning of her issues with her leg, which tied into her inability to drive down to Blue Earth, which I indirectly learned was because she needed to be with my grandmother as she goes under the knife to remove skin cancer and replace it with healthy skin.
This has been a really awful summer.
August 27, 2016: Surly
The family and I went to Surly yesterday. I haven't been in a sea of humanity like that in a long while. There were more people there at any given time than my store gets total in a day. I really need a change.
August 26, 2016: End of the Road
That's the official WGOM "stuck in my head for no reason" song today.
August 25, 2016: A Week to Forget
Tough personal week here, dudes. I need to spend more time here.
August 19, 2016: Sharper
Darren Sharper got 18 years for his crimes. He was originally going to get nine, and the judge said this wasn't enough and demanded more. We aren't doing enough to combat rape as a society, but 18 years for a rich, good-looking athlete will have to be a start, I guess.
Third Monday Movie Day
I saw some things. Several things, actually. I watched a couple of long epics, Ran and The Deer Hunter, on the same day a couple of days ago. Did you know John Cazale was only in five movies before his death, and they were all nominated for Best Picture (with three of them winning)? I didn't, but I feel like I should have.
August 15, 2016: Meetings
I missed a morning meeting yesterday. It was my day off, and I simply forgot it existed. I...hope it wasn't important.
