'Hi everybody. We're Archie Bell & the Drells. From Houston Texas.' Well nice to meet you!
There is nothing special to this song. But, it makes me want to dance. Hopefully you boogie in you chair.

I was planning on having a 'Theme Week' but I couldnt decide on a theme so its going to be random songs I've liked.
I discovered this artist when Amazon was giving this song away for free. i was instantly hooks because saxophone and guitars are right in my wheelhouse. Enjoy. ~ dw
Live in Buffalo. I was here, though way at the back. I don't like large crowds, so I usually stand well back at concerts. This was the encore, and a few people were actually leaving before he came back out. I was completely baffled. Either they a) didn't know how concerts and encores work, b) didn't know the In The Aeroplane Over The Sea tracklisting very well, or c) were really worried about traffic.

When that french horn started up, this huge wave of feeling washed over me. I left the show feeling refreshed. It was definitely one of the best shows I've ever been to, and this was the perfect closer. So it's on that note* I take leave of my DJing duties. Thank you for indulging me this week.
*You jerks know full well no pun intended 🙂
This may be my favorite Dinosaur Jr song. I love the last verse where J.'s voice stays at the same level of calmness while the cacophony builds around him. I went with this version as it was the earliest one I could find. Looks like everyone was having a good time.

Big thanks to Bootsy and free who got me turned on them a few years back.
This is my oldest male cousin Jacob. He's four years younger than me. My oldest cousin is his big sister. Often times when we got together when we were younger, the girls - my little sister and his big sister - would always play together, and Jacob and I would play together. I haven't seen as much of him as an adult as I would like, but we're working on seeing each other more often.
This is an original work of his. I'm really proud of him not only for his talent, but having the guts to put himself out there like this. I couldn't imagine opening myself up like that for the world to see.

If you'll indulge me, I've deviated from our live version habits because this video holds a place in my heart.

A very good friend of mine from my time in Prauge is the fella on the right in the flatcap and guitar. He's currently in one of, if not the, biggest bluegrass bands in South Korea.

Unfortunately, this is the best quality video on youtube. If you like what you heard, here's their Facebook page
Back in July, I went down to Tennessee for my (3rd out of 4) little cousin's wedding. While I was down there, I really got to reconnect with my oldest little cousin (We're both the oldest in our respective families, but she is, as I like to teasingly remind her, 1 year, 10 months, and 6 days younger than me). Anyway, she told me to look up this song when I got home. I did, and there was something familiar about it in the deep recesses of my mind, but I couldn't figure out what exactly. Then she told me that we used to listen to Guy Clark, and this song in particular, together a lot when we were younger and got to see each other a few times a year. It was really nice to be reminded of when we were closer, and it's gotten regular rotation since.

Let's kick this week off right. FTLT and I were at this concert back in June, and judging from the video not too far from the person taking this. The weather was terrible all day, but broke about 30 minutes before the Hold Steady went on. The show ended up being awesome, though the whiskey and singing along meant I couldn't talk very well for a few days.
