TODAY'S TILTS

12:10  Cedar Rapids (Cory Lewis, 4-1, 2.53) at Wisconsin
5:35  St. Paul (David Festa, 1-0, 1.80) at Louisville
6:00  Bradenton at Fort Myers (TBD)
6:35  Wichita (Carlos Luna, 2-8, 5.56) at Corpus Christi

Minor Details: Where They Stand

The St. Paul Saints are 32-25, in first place in the International League West, two games ahead of Toledo.*

The Wichita Wind Surge is 32-25, in first place in the Texas League North, three games ahead of Springfield.

The Cedar Rapids Kernels are 40-20, in first place in the Midwest League West, five games ahead of Peoria.  The Kernels qualified for the playoffs by winning the first half.

The Fort Myers Mighty Mussels are 31-28, in fourth place in the Florida State League West, 7.5 games behind Lakeland, one game behind third-place Clearwater.

* If I'm reading it right, first place in your division does you no good whatsoever in AAA.  You have to have the best record in the entire league, either in the first half or the second half, to go to the playoffs.  In the overall league standings, St. Pau is tied for sixth with Jacksonville, three games behind Durham and Lehigh Valley.  I don't know what the point is of having divisions if they don't mean anything, but as so often happens in many areas of life, the powers that be forgot to ask my opinion when they made this decision.
