Columbus 5, Rochester 1 in Columbus.  The Clippers scored four in the sixth to break a 1-1 tie.  Steve Singleton had two doubles, Danny Lehmann doubled and singled, and Chase Lambin had two hits.  Eric Hacker allowed five runs on eight hits, walking none in 5.2 innings.  Jake Stevens worked 2.1 scoreless innings, giving up three hits and a walk.

New Britain 5, Akron 3 in New Britain.  A three-run second propelled the Rock Cats to victory.  Mike Hollimon had two doubles, Yangervis Solarte singled and doubled to raise his average to .333, and Evan Bigley and Jair Fernandez each had two hits.  Starter Dennis Suarez made his Rock Cats debut, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks in four innings.  The win went to Deolis Guerra, who struck out seven in four shutout innings, giving up just two hits and a walk.  Bruce Pugh pitched a perfect ninth to get the save.

Ft. Myers—No game scheduled.

Ft. Wayne 9, Beloit 5 in Beloit.  Three three-run innings gave the TinCaps the win.  Ramon Santana singled and homered, his fifth homer of the year.  Andrew Achter gave up six runs (three earned) on eight hits and a walk in 4.1 innings.

Rochester 5, Norfolk 2 in Rochester.  The Red Wings scored two in the fourth and two in the sixth.  Dustin Martin singled and doubled, driving in four.  Steve Singleton had two hits.  Ryan Mullins gave up one run on five hits and a walk in six innings to get the win.  Cole DeVries struck out three in two shutout innings.

Jupiter 11, Ft. Myers 3 in Ft. Myers—The Hammerheads scored five in the fourth and four in the fifth, pounding out eighteen hits.  Aaron Hicks singled and doubled.  Edgar Ibarra surrendered six runs (five earned) on seven hits and two walks in 3.2 innings.  Andrew Albers struck out three in two shutout innings.

Beloit—No games scheduled.

DSL Twins 3, White Sox 2 at White Sox (2 innings—suspended game).  The White Sox are still batting with one out in the bottom of the second.  Presumably, the game will be resumed the next time these two teams are scheduled to play.

ROCHESTER

Wednesday—Rochester 10, Toledo 9 in Rochester.  The Red Wings overcame a 7-0 first inning deficit.  Rene Tosoni and Aaron Bates each had three hits, with Tosoni hitting a home run.

Thursday—Rochester 8, Toledo 0 in Rochester.  Eric Hacker struck out six in six innings, giving up four hits and four walks.

Friday—Norfolk 7, Rochester 2 in Rochester.  Aaron Bates had two hits.  Kyle Gibson allowed six runs (four earned) on nine hits with five strikeouts in five innings.

Saturday—Rochester 5, Norfolk 1 in Rochester.  Dustin Martin doubled and homered.  Scott Diamond allowed an unearned run on four hits and a walk in eight innings.

Sunday—Norfolk 11, Rochester 5 in Rochester (11 innings).  Rene Tosoni had two singles and a double.  Aaron Bates and Chase Lambin each singled and homered.

Toledo 5, Rochester 0 in Rochester.  The Mud Hens scored three in the seventh to put things away.  The Red Wings actually out-hit Toledo 7-6, but the Mud Hens hit three home runs while Rochester hit seven singles.  Aaron Bates had three of them, raising his average to .317, and Toby Gardenhire had two.  Only two of the five runs were earned.  They were all given up by Andrew Baldwin who allowed four hits and no walks in seven innings.

New Britain 2, Portland 0 in New Britain (Game 1—Scheduled 7 innings).  The Rock Cats scored single runs in the first and sixth.  Steve Singleton and Mike Hollimon each had two hits.  Brett Jacobson pitched five innings, giving up two hits while walking three.  Tyler Robertson retired all four batters he faced to get the save.

New Britain 5, Portland 3 in New Britain (Game 2—Scheduled 7 innings).  The Rock Cats scored in four of the six innings they batted.  Joe Benson had two doubles and a single.  Deibinson Romero had two hits.  Mike Hollimon hit a two-run homer.  Tony Davis threw 3.2 innings of scoreless relief to get the win, allowing just one hit and no walks while striking out three.  Michael Tarsi gave up a run on a hit and two walks in the seventh inning, but was still credited with the save.

Lakeland 13, Ft. Myers 2 in Lakeland.  The Flying Tigers scored in each of the first six innings, scoring multiple runs in three of those innings.  Danny Rams and Anderson Hidalgo each singled and doubled.  Matt Schuld was hammered for six runs on nine hits and four walks in three innings, and the first two relief pitchers did no better.

Beloit 11, Dayton 10 in Beloit.  The Snappers scored six runs in the ninth to overcome a 10-5 deficit.  A pinch-hit grand slam by Lance Ray capped the inning.  Daniel Santana had two singles and a home run.  Danny Ortiz had two doubles.  Michael Gonzales singled and doubled, driving in five, and Kyle Kundson had two hits.  Starter Pat Dean surrendered five runs on eleven hits and a walk in 4.2 innings.  Ben Tootle got the win despite allowing two runs on a hit and two walks in two innings.  Clinton Dempster pitched a perfect ninth for the save.

DSL Cubs1 at Twins.  Postponed.

Toledo 7, Rochester 3 in Rochester.  Two ninth-inning Red Wings runs made the score seem closer than the game was.  Rene Tosoni singled and homered, Ben Revere homered, and Aaron Bates had two hits.  Scott Diamond allowed four runs on six hits and two walks in 5.2 innings, although he did strike out seven.  Carlos Gutierrez surrendered three runs in one inning of work.

New Hampshire 7, New Britain 6 in New Hampshire.  The Fisher Cats scored five runs in the ninth to take the comeback victory.  The runs were scored off Tyler Robertson, who took the loss.  Bobby Lanigan pitched 6.2 innings, giving up two runs on six hits and three walks.  Evan Bigley had two singles and a double, Daniel Rohlfing and Chris Cates each had two hits, and Joe Benson homered.

Ft. Myers—No games scheduled.

Beloit 7, Clinton 1 in Clinton (Game 1—Scheduled 7 innings).  The Snappers scored two in each of the second, fifth, and sixth innings.  Lance Ray singled and doubled.  Adrian Salcedo got the complete game victory, giving up four hits and two walks.

Beloit 2, Clinton 1 in Clinton (Game 2—8 innings—Scheduled 7 innings).  Nate Roberts’ single scored Jamaal Hawkins with the winning run.  Wang-Wei Lin had three hits.  Starter Ryan O’Rourke pitched three innings, giving up a run on four hits and a walk.  Andrei Lobanov followed with two shutout innings, and Jose Gonzalez then worked 2.2 scoreless innings to get the win.  Michael Tonkin struck out the only man he faced to get the save.

DSL Orioles 3, Twins 0 (ended in eighth inning—rain).  The Twins had only two hits.  Starter Junior Subero took a tough loss, allowing an unearned run on a hit and a walk in three innings.

Rochester 6, Lehigh Valley 2 in Lehigh Valley.  The Red Wings scored four in the third, which was all they needed.  Brian Dinkelman singled and homered, driving in three and raising his average to .308.  Rene Tosoni also homered.  Ben Revere had two hits.  Kyle Gibson struck out ten in 7.2 innings, giving up two runs on three hits and a walk.  Anthony Slama retired all four men he faced, striking out two of them.

New Hampshire 2, New Britain 1 in New Hampshire.  Joe Benson doubled to tie the game in the top of the ninth, but the Fisher Cats won with one in the bottom of the ninth.  Benson had two hits in the game.  Liam Hendriks pitched seven innings, giving up a run on five hits and two walks while striking out six.  Tony Davis allowed the losing run in his second inning of relief.  The win went to ex-Twin Bobby Korecky, who had allowed the tying run in the ninth.

Ft. Myers 2, Clearwater 0 in Ft. Myers (Game 1—Scheduled 7 innings).  Brian Dozier’s third-inning double brought in both runs.  Dozier also singled.  Brad Stillings worked the first four innings, giving up a run on two hits.  Andrew Albers went the last three to get the win, walking none and giving up two hits.

Clearwater 1, Ft. Myers 0 in Ft. Myers (Game 2—Scheduled 7 innings).  The Threshers scored the game’s only run in the sixth.  Steve Liddle had the only Miracle hit, a single leading off the third inning.  Tom Stuifbergen took a complete game loss, giving up seven hits and a walk while striking out six.

Beloit at Clinton.  Postponed.  Game will be made up as part of a doubleheader this afternoon.

Lehigh Valley 4, Rochester 3 in Lehigh Valley.  Tagg Bozied’s homer in the sixth broke a 3-3 tie.  Ray Chang hit two home runs, his first two homers of the year, driving in all of the Red Wings runs.  Eric Hacker allowed all four runs on eight hits, walking none.  Carlos Gutierrez pitched two shutout innings of relief.

New Hampshire 4, New Britain 0 in New Hampshire.  The Fisher Cats scored three in the first, which was more than they needed.  The Rock Cats had only two hits, both singles.  Steve Hirschfeld allowed all four runs on seven hits and two walks, striking out six in five innings.

Clinton 6, Beloit 4 in Clinton.  The LumberKings scored five in the fifth to overcome a 4-1 deficit.  Danny Ortiz had two doubles, Michael Gonzales singled and homered (his seventh), and Lance Ray had two hits.  B. J. Hermsen allowed all six runs (only two earned) on seven hits and a walk in 4.2 innings, striking out four.  Clinton Dempster pitched 2.1 scoreless innings.

DSL Twins 4, White Sox 3 (12 innings) at Twins.  Victor Arias came around from second on an infield out to score the winning run.  Adonis Pacheco had two singles and a double.  Erick Gonzalez and Joel Polanco each had two hits.  Sterling Bonilla struck out four in three shutout innings, giving up just one hit and no walks.  Randy Rosario followed with two perfect innings.  The win went to Francisco Nunez, who struck out five in 4.1 scoreless innings, giving up just one hit and no walks.

Rochester is 18-27, sixth (last) in the IL North, 10 games behind Lehigh Valley.  The Red Wings have lost two in a row and are 4-6 over their last ten games.

New Britain is 27-18, third in the EL East, 3 games behind New Hampshire.  The Rock Cats have lost one in a row and are 5-5 over their last ten games.

Ft. Myers is 27-21, second in the FSL South, 0.5 games behind St. Lucie.  The Miracle has lost two in a row and is 7-3 over their last ten games.

Beloit is 22-26, sixth in the ML West, 12 games behind Burlington.  Then Snappers have won one in a row and are 1-9 over their last ten games.
