NASHVILLE SOUNDS 5, ST. PAUL SAINTS 4 IN NASHVILLE

Yonny Hernandez hit a three-run homer in the eighth to give Nashville a 5-4 lead.

Multi-hit games:  Jose Miranda was 2-for-4.

Home runs:  None.

Multi-RBIs:  None.

Stolen bases:  Will Holland (1), DaShawn Kiersey, Jr. (2)

Pitching prowess:  Simeon Woods Richardson pitched five shutout innings, giving up three hits and two walks and striking out four.  Scott Blewett retired both men he faced.

Opposition standout:  Hernandez, of course, but the homer was his only hit.  Brewer Hicklen was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs.

Record:  The Saints are 2-1, tied for third with Omaha, a half game behind Louisville and Memphis (3-1).

Yoyner Fajardo's two-run single in the eleventh produced a walkoff win.

Alex Isola hit a three-run homer in the second and Yoyner Fajardo hit a three-run homer in the fourth to lead the Saints to victory.

Eddys Leonard hit a two-run homer in the third to give Toledo a 3-0 lead.  St. Paul scored two in the fifth but could do no more.

Jair Camargo hit a two-run homer, his twenty-first.

St. Paul had just two hits.

Patrick Murphy pitched four innings, giving up three runs on seven hits and a walk and striking out four.
Brent Headrick struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up two hits and a walk.

SAINTS 10, MUD HENS 6 IN ST. PAUL

Toledo scored three in the top of the second, but St. Paul came back with seven in the bottom half.  Anthony Prato hit a two-run homer in the inning and Michael Helman hit a grand slam.

Helman was 2-for-3 with a grand slam (his sixth homer), a walk, and two runs.
Anthony Prato was 2-for-3 with two home runs (his ninth and tenth) a walk, and three RBIs.

KERNELS 7, LOONS 6 IN CEDAR RAPIDS (PLAYOFF GAME 3--7 INNINGS)

Emmanuel Rodriguez hit a grand slam in the second to give Cedar Rapids a 5-0 lead.  Great Lakes closed to 5-4 in the top of the fifth, but Cedar Rapids scored two in the bottom of the fifth.  Dalton Rushing hit a two-run homer in the seventh but Great Lakes did not get the tying run on base.

Kala'i Rosario was 2-for-3 with a walk.
Rodriguez hit a grand slam, his third homer of the post-season.

Cedar Rapids had only five hits but drew ten walks.

Cory Lewis pitched 4.2 innings, giving up four runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks and striking out five.
Gabriel Yanez struck out two in a scoreless inning, giving up two hits.

GREAT LAKES AT CEDAR RAPIDS (PLAYOFF GAME 2)

The game was suspended after four and a half innings with Great Lakes leading 1-0.  It will be completed today.  If Cedar Rapids comes back to win, the series is over.  If Great Lakes wins, the two teams will play a second game tomorrow to decide the championship.

Minor Details: Where They Stand

The St. Paul Saints are 37-32, in second place in the International League West, 1.5 games behind Nashville.  They have been eliminated from playoff competition.

The Wichita Wind Surge ended the second half 36-33, in second place in the Texas League North, two games behind Springfield.  They did not qualify for the playoffs.

The Cedar Rapids Kernels won their playoff series against Peoria two games to one.  They lead Great Lakes in the best-of-three League Championship Series one game to none.
