    1. I don't know, they're probably not going to have Montero any more, are they?

I see that SWB had both Terry Tiffee and Mike Lamb make appearances for them this season, though.

    1. What about Forrest Gump's girlfriend stealing his name when she performed? Do unto others...

  1. I haven't checked the gamelog, and someone probably said it already, but they should have put a roof on it.

    1. As of this moment, Fulham is in the drop zone. A win over QPR tomorrow would be huge (and their first in the league). They're the last team to be winless.

  2. OK, now the possum is in our grape vines on the arbor over our patio. Evidently they like grapes, there are grape seeds all over the patio. And he's still driving the dogs nuts, and he is still one ugly critter.

      1. Still good, but I find the flavors to be more complex when found on the side of the road.

            1. It sure hasn't been tough yet, but I know the last hour will test me.

I'm worried about when I'm going to be called to dinner tonight. The deadline makes sense from a logistical standpoint until I factor in that I just might be eating.

  3. It took Penn State until 3 minutes left in the 1st half to score against IU. It's now tied at 3-3. It's not pretty, but IU is hanging around.

  4. On the TBS pregame, I enjoyed Matt Weiner marveling at the fact that two franchises as old as the Cardinals and the Phillies had never met in the postseason before. As everyone here knows, for the vast majority of their history it was impossible for them to do so.

    1. The Cardinals have also never, ever faced the Pirates, Reds, Marlins, Expos/Nationals, Brewers, Cubs, or Rockies.

      1. I don't dislike him, particularly, and he's probably no worse than most of the people who have those jobs. I just wish there were more sports announcers who had some appreciation of the history of the sports they broadcast.

  5. cc to hungry joe: You've got me down for the Phillies sweeping the NLDS, but I had them winning it 3-1 in my prediction. Could you alter the spreadsheet to reflect that?

    1. should be fixed. sorry about that. i saved a copy of everyone's vote, so there shouldn't be an tomfoolery, but i can't promise there aren't any mistakes. one less now though. thanks, CH.

  6. If anyone's interested, I have four tickets to the Soap Factory's haunted house tonight at 6 pm. It was Stef's birthday present to me, but we can't go now because I'm sick. She's willing to meet to drop off tickets. They're $21 a piece, but we'd take best offer as well.

    1. We were looking at some Edinburgh haunted tunnel/ghost/scary-such/etc. tours... Bagged them and ended up at Brew Dogs for some pints of Hoppy Wonder. I had: Hops Kill Nazis. +10 Griffindor. NBBW had: Hardcore IPA. Gal behind the bar brought out a bottle encased in a stout/ferret-skin. Culcha, boyos.

      1. “We was clicking,” Robinson said.

Mmm, lots to be proud of with that Michigan education.

  7. High alert to all the brewers in the Nation:

Far from being a modern invention of the craft beer scene, pumpkin beers have a long history in the US. Samuel Stearns' The American herbal; or, Materia medica (published in 1801), name-checked pumpkin beer just after porter and ale.
