Minor Details: Games of 4/27

Beloit salvages the day.  The Rock Cats lose on a walk off.  A big day for JaDamion Williams.

BUFFALO 7, ROCHESTER 3 IN BUFFALO

Batting starsDarin Mastroianni was 3-for-4.  Aaron Bates was 2-for-4.

Pitching starsAnthony Slama struck out five in two shutout innings, giving up one hit.  Tyler Robertson struck out three while giving up two hits and two walks in two shutout innings.

Opposition stars:  Lucas May was 2-for-3 with a walk and a three run homer.  Oman Quintanilla was 2-for-4 with a home run.  Jack Egbert got the win with three shutout innings of relief.

Key inning:  The fourth.  Down 3-1, the first three Red Wings walked, giving them a chance to take the lead.  A sacrifice fly brought in one, but a line drive double play ended the threat.  The Bisons scored three in the bottom of the inning on May’s three run homer and the game was effectively over.

OtherSamuel Deduno started for Rochester, but faced only one batter, walking him, before leaving the game.  There was no word on the reason.

RICHMOND 5, NEW BRITAIN 4 IN RICHMOND (13 INNINGS)

Batting starsDeibinson Romero was 3-for-6 with a double.  Aaron Hicks was 2-for-6 and hit a two run homer, his fourth.

Pitching starsAndrew Albers struck out six in six innings, giving up two runs on eight hits and a walk.  Lester Oliveros gave up two hits and two walks in three shutout innings.  Luis Perdomo gave up one hit and two walks in two shutout innings.

Opposition stars:  Ryan Cavan was 3-for-5 with a double.  Ehire Adrianza was 3-for-4 with a walk.  Justin Fitzgerald worked seven shutout innings, giving up five hits and no walks.

Key inning:  The thirteenth.  In a 2-2 tie, Hicks hit a two run homer to give the Rock Cats a 4-2 lead.  With one out in the bottom of the inning, Blake Martin allowed a walk and a double to make the score 4-3.  Juan Perez then hit a walk off home run.

PALM BEACH 3, FORT MYERS 2 IN FORT MYERS

Batting starDaniel Santana was 1-for-3 with a walk and a triple, driving in two.

Pitching starMiguel Munoz went three shutout innings, giving up two hits and no walks.

Opposition stars:  Chris Edmondson was 2-for-2 with two walks and a home run.  Chris Corrigan struck out six in four innings, allowing one hit and four walks.  Dean Kiekhefer worked two perfect innings.

Key inning:  The seventh.  Trailing 3-0 with two out and none on, the Miracle came to life, scoring twice on singles by Anderson Hidalgo and Michael Gonzales and a triple by Santana.  Levi Michael grounded out to end the threat, and Fort Myers did not get another run on base.

Other:  The Miracle had only four hits, three of them in the seventh.

BELOIT 6, BOWLING GREEN 3 IN BELOIT

Batting starsJaDamion Williams was 3-for-5 with two doubles and a triple, driving in two.  Wang-wei Lin was 3-for-4 with a walk.

Pitching starsMadison Boer gave up two runs on six hits and three walks in six innings to get the win.  Bart Carter struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up no hits and no walks.

Opposition stars:  Tyler Motter was 2-for-4.  Felipe Rivero gave up two runs on six hits and two walks in five innings while striking out six.

Key inning:  The sixth.  Tied 2-2, the Snappers had two out and none on.  Rory Rhodes and Matthew Koch walked.  Tyler Grimes reached on an error to score one and Lin singled two score two, giving Beloit a 5-2 lead.

Other:  The Snappers now have a four game winning streak.
