Minor Details: Games of 5/22

Teheran dominates Rochester.  Chris Herrmann again gets four hits.  Each game was a pitchers' duel.

GWINNETT 3, ROCHESTER 1 IN ROCHESTER

Batting starsPedro Florimon was 2-for-4.  Chris Parmelee was 1-for-3 with a homer and a walk.

Pitching starsDeolis Guerra struck out two in 2.2 scoreless innings, giving up two hits and a walk.  Lester Oliveros struck out four in two shutout innings, allowing two hits.

Opposition stars:  Luis Durango was 3-for-5 with a double.  Julio Teheran worked seven strong innings, giving up a run on four hits and two walks.

Key inning:  The fourth.  Leading 2-1, Durango delivered an RBI single to give the Braves a valuable insurance run.  Rochester never got a man past second base after that.

Other:  The Red Wings bullpen is on a streak of 13.1 scoreless innings.  Rene Tosoni was rewarded for his 5-for-5 game Monday by being sent back to AA to make room for Michael Hollimon, who came off the disabled list.

NEW BRITAIN 3, BINGHAMTON 0 IN NEW BRITAIN

Batting starsChris Herrmann was 4-for-4 with a double and drove in two.  James Beresford was 2-for-3.  Estarlin De Los Santos was 2-for-4.

Pitching starLogan Darnell pitched seven innings, allowing seven hits and no walks.

Opposition stars:  Eric Campbell was 2-for-4.  Matt Den Dekker was 2-for-5.  Collin McHugh gave up two runs on eight hits in six innings.

Key inning:  The seventh.  In a scoreless tie, Evan Bigley led off the inning with a home run.  McHugh was then ejected for hitting Nathan Hanson with a pitch.  Singles by Beresford and De Los Santos loaded the bases, and Herrmann hit a two run double to end the scoring.

Other:  This is the first time the Rock Cats have ever been ten games over .500 this early in the season.  This was the second consecutive game Herrmann had four hits.  The Mets had nine hits, eight of them singles.

FORT MYERS 2, CLEARWATER 1 IN FORT MYERS

Batting starsDaniel Rohlfing was 3-for-4 with two doubles, driving in two.  Daniel Santana and Oswaldo Arcia were each 2-for-4.

Pitching starsMarty Popham lasted six innings, giving up a run on six hits and two walks.  Nelvin Fuentes worked two shutout innings, giving up two hits.  Ricky Bowen struck out the side in the ninth.

Opposition stars:  Drew Hillman was 3-for-3.  Edgar Duran was 2-for-4.  Jesse Biddle allowed a run on six hits and a walk in seven innings.

Key inning:  The eighth.  In a 1-1 tie, the Miracle strung together singles by Daniel Ortiz, Arcia, and Rohlfing to score the go-ahead run.
