Where They Stand

Two teams are in the playoffs, two are a game out, one has an outside shot, two have been eliminated.  The major league team, of course, will make the playoffs with a record of 89-73.

Minnesota is 51-73, fifth in the AL Central, 17.5 games behind Chicago.  The Twins have lost three consecutive games and are 2-8 in their last ten games.

Rochester is 67-66, fourth in the IL North, 10.5 games behind Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.  They are fifth in the wild card standings, 4 games behind Pawtucket.  The Red Wings have won one consecutive game and are 5-5 in their last ten games.

New Britain is 68-63, third in the EL Eastern, 6 games behind Trenton.  They are 1game behind Reading for the last playoff spot in the division.  The Rock Cats have lost five consecutive games and are 3-7 in their last ten games.

Fort Myers is 27-32 in the second half, fifth in the FSL South, 5 games behind Jupiter.  Overall, the Miracle is 55-71.  The Miracle has won one consecutive game and is 4-6 in its last ten games.

Beloit is 30-29 in the second half, tied for third in the ML Western, 8 games behind Clinton.  Overall, the Snappers are 69-60.  They have qualified for the playoffs due to a second place finish in the first half.  The Snappers have lost two consecutive games and are 4-6 in their last ten games.

Elizabethton is 41-19, first in the AL West, 7 games ahead of Johnson City.  The Twins have clinched a playoff spot.  They have won one consecutive game and are 6-4 in their last ten games.  The regular season schedule ends August 28.

The GCL Twins are 32-26, second in the GCL South, 1 game behind the Red Sox.  The Twins do not have a chance for the wild card, so they will have to win their division to make the playoffs.  They have won five consecutive games and are 6-4 in their last ten games.  The GCL season ends tomorrow.  The Twins finish with two games against the Red Sox so, as they say, their fate is in their hands.

The DSL Twins are 31-39, sixth in the B. C. B. C., 12 games behind the Diamondbacks.  The Twins have been eliminated from playoff contention.  They have won two consecutive games and are 4-6 in their last ten games.  The DSL season ends tomorrow; however, it appears that the final two games of the regular season have already been cancelled due to Hurricane Irene.

  1. The Elizabethton team is really good. They are scoring a run more than any other team (6.30 v 5.32) and are a half-run better than any other team on defense (3.65 v 4.13).
