October 20, 2012: Unfamiliar

Last night marked the first time in years that I was told I hadn't gotten a job I applied for. Holy crap, I'd forgotten how damaging that feeling is, even though it was stressed to me that I was the second choice and that they value the hell out of me. A few compliments aren't quite the 50% bump in pay I was hoping for, but at least I feel needed.

    1. Wow. What a fun game. I wish some of our "soccer is just a bunch of guys flopping" we're watching.

  1. Last night I was contacted by a second cousin from Lund, Sweden. I love how my genealogy website is still bringing them in over ten years from when I started it (and several years since I added anything to it)

  2. True freshman Philip Nelson throws a TD pass in his second drive for the Gophers at Wisconsin.

  3. Why no baseball? Am I actually going to use tonight to accomplish some of the work I'm set to do?
    That's a weird feeling.

  4. so Toronto traded their manager John Farrell to the Red Sox. They must be getting good compensation for trading within their division.

    1. I read somewhere that the Blue Jays weren't all that thrilled with Farrell and were thinking about letting him go. I have no idea whether he's a good manager, but if they were thinking of getting rid of him, I'd think they're pretty happy to actually get something for him.

      1. Aviles isn't a star, but he's not chopped liver, either.
        bWAR by year: 2008-2012:
        4.4, -0.7*, 1.2, -0.1**, 2.0
*36 games: Injury during WBC, Rubbing Dirt on it didn't work, so he had TJ.
**Demoted for Moustakas, traded to BoSox.

If what I've heard from Jay's fans, this is pretty good.
