MANATI 9, CAROLINA 1 IN CAROLINA

TwinsAngel Morales (Carolina) was used as a pinch-hitter and was 0-for-1.

Game summary:  Manati scored five in the second to take a 6-0 lead.

Manati:  Tyler Herron struck out seven in six shutout innings, giving up four hits and no walks.  Keiji Nakahara was 2-for-4 with two doubles, scoring once and driving in three.

Carolina:  Willie Colazzo (Toronto) struck out five in 4.1 scoreless innings, allowing two hits.  Enrique Hernandez (Houston) was 2-for-4 with two doubles and scored once.

CAGUAS 5, MAYAGUEZ 4 IN CAGUAS (14 INNINGS)

TwinsEddie Rosario (Mayaguez) was 0-for-2.  Daniel Ortiz (Mayaguez) was used as a reserve and was 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, and a run scored.

Game summary:  Carlos Rivero hit a two-out walk-off homer.

Mayaguez:  Irving Falu (Kansas City) was 3-for-7 and scored once.  Benigno Cepeda worked 3.1 scoreless innings, giving up two hits and a walk.

Caguas:  Edgardo Baez was 4-for-6 with two doubles.  Carlos Rivera was 3-for-5 with a double, a home run, and two walks, driving in two.

SANTURCE 5, PONCE 3 IN SANTURCE

TwinsNelvin Fuentes (Santurce) pitched a third of an inning, giving up one hit and no runs.

Game summary:  Santurce scored five in the fifth.  Ponce scored three in the sixth.

Ponce:  Jose Ruiz was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.  Alexander Claudio (Texas) worked 2.1 scoreless innings, giving up just one hit.

Santurce:  J. D. Durbin started and pitched four shutout innings, allowing two hits and a walk.  Luis Figueroa was 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.
