SANTURCE 11, PONCE 4 IN PONCE

TwinsNelvin Fuentes (Santurce) surrendered four runs on four hits in one inning.  He struck out two and walked none.

Game summary:  Santurce scored five in the sixth to take an 8-0 lead.

Santurce:  J. D. Durbin pitched six shutout innings, giving up two hits and one walk.  Luis Figueroa was 3-for-5 with two runs and three RBIs.

Ponce:  Zach Walters (Washington) was 2-for-4 and scored once.  Reggie Abercrombie hit a three-run homer.

CAGUAS 4, MAYAGUEZ 3 IN MAYAGUEZ

TwinsEddie Rosario (Mayaguez) was 2-for-4 with a double.  Kennys Vargas (Mayaguez) was used as a reserve and was 0-for-1 with a walk.  Daniel Ortiz (Mayaguez) was 1-for-4.

Game summary:  Caguas led 4-0 after six.  Mayaguez scored three in the seventh and had the bases loaded with two out.  Mayaguez also had the tying run in scoring position with one out in the eighth.

Caguas:  Fernando Hernandez (Toronto) pitched five shutout innings, giving up six hits and one walk.  Andy Gonzalez was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring once and driving in one.

Mayaguez:  Irving Falu (Kansas City) was 2-for-4 with a walk and scored once.  Anthony Carter (Boston) struck out three in two perfect innings.

CAROLINA 3, MANATI 1 IN MANATI

TwinsJorge Fernandez (Carolina) was used as a pinch-runner but did not bat.

Game summary:  Carolina scored three runs in the first two innings.

Carolina:  Willie Collazo (Toronto) gave up one run on seven hits and a walk in five innings.  Carlos Corporan (Houston) was 2-for-4 with two doubles, scoring once and driving in one.

Manati:  Helder Velazquez was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring once.  Keiji Nakahara was 2-for-4.
