Four Twins lead Mayaguez to victory!

MAYAGUEZ 14, CAROLINA 7 IN MAYAGUEZ

Twins: Daniel Ortiz (Mayaguez) was 2-for-5 with two doubles and a walk, scoring three times and driving in two. Eddie Rosario (Mayaguez) was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one. Kennys Vargas (Mayaguez) was 3-for-5 with a double and a grand slam, scoring twice. Nelvin Fuentes (Mayaguez) retired all four batters he faced, striking out one.

Game summary: Mayaguez scored three in the first and led all the way. Carolina scored two in the top of the fourth to cut the lead to 4-3, but Mayaguez responded with nine runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Carolina: Tony Thomas (Boston) was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one. Osvaldo Martinez (Dodgers) was 2-for-5 with two RBIs.

Mayaguez: Angel Sanchez (White Sox) was 3-for-6 with two runs and two RBIs. Yasiel Puig (Dodgers) was 3-for-5 with a double, scoring twice and driving in three.

CAGUAS 6, SANTURCE 5 IN CAGUAS

Game summary: Caguas scored two in the third to break a 2-2 tie and led 6-2 after seven. Santurce scored three in the eighth and got the tying run to second, but their last five batters were retired.

Santurce: Sergio Miranda was 3-for-5 with a double, scoring once and driving in two. Jose Ruiz was 2-for-3 with a double and two walks, scoring twice.

Caguas: Carlos Rivera was 3-for-3 with a walk, a double, and a two-run homer, scoring three times. Jaime Ortiz was 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.
