March 30, 2013: D-Bags

We had a guy find an outdated tag in our store yesterday. Honoring the tag wasn't good enough for him; he wanted an extra five-year warranty and 20% discount because of the "inconvenience." I guess I don't blame a guy for trying, but what a load.

  1. Rochester dropped a 6-4 decision to Norfolk yesterday. Chris Colabello drove in all four runs, three of them on a home run. P. J. Walters gave up one run on four hits in five innings, striking out five and walking none. The last Red Wings spring training game is today, as they play Pawtucket.

  2. This is the latest into the year I have ever waited to file my taxes, but they are done and filed.

    1. One year, I filed for an extension, even though we were due a refund. Then I forgot to file. The IRS actually called the house and talked to mrsS. I was forced to take the taxes to a service for about 3 years after that.

        1. Miller Park isn't enclosed, it's just covered. Not sure how much heating it has.

              1. Odd fear sure. I think I've got tickets lined up for the game on the 28th. Hopefully I won't be traveling.

    1. Well, that's one way to make sure something about this season makes it into the record books!

  3. St Cloud destroying Notre Dame. One period to go
Hopefully Mankato can channel the same energy the Huskies are playing with

  4. Programming alert!

I finished a book, so there should be a First Monday post on monday.

    1. I just started The China Study - expect some powerpoint bullets in a week on why animal-based protein is bad for you (unless I'm taken out by the Dairy Council thugs before then).

  5. I see Syracuse made the final four. Is anyone else terrified by what Khan thinks of that?

  6. Mankato loses to Miami (OH) 4-0. Huskies only Minnesota school left in hockey tourney.

    1. return of the mini series!
I read since NewsCorp is spinning FX into FX and FXX (soon to be the former FOX Soccer) and rebranding FOX Movie into FXM, they are interested in buying more mini series.

    1. My triathlon training partner's husband built something similar.

Same pickle bucket construct, some food to entice them to come in (hangs from the lid of the pickle bucket, but formaldehyde in the bottom instead of water to avoid teh smell). He set's it up in the Fall in their 5th wheel camper and empties it in the Spring.

Not sure where you buy formaldehyde tho'.

I need to set this up in Scandia.

      1. Mine has washer fluid in there right now because of the low temps. Day one, no activity.

  7. Spooky -- you could have invited him to not buy the damned thing if it was such an inconvenience.

    1. Now that I can't get any more points I do want to point out that I was in first place Thursday for about 2 hours: From the time Marquette won to the time that Indiana lost. So I got that going for me.

    2. If Louisville wins tomorrow, it's DK, DPWY, or Beau still in the running.

If Duke wins tomorrow it's hungry joe or Beau still in the running.

If Duke and Florida win tomorrow, Beau wins.

    1. See above. Not hiring Flip is a positive. Plus, I've seen no evidence they ever actually tried to get Stevens (since he's impossible to get) and I'm not convinced they ever made an actual offer to the other two before they both leveraged "possible interest" into their extensions.

  8. Saw Joan Osborne concert tonite at Infinity Theatre in Norfolk, CT.

Opening act (talented gal from Tennessee) kept twanging 'Thank You So Much!!' Alright already.

Joan was OK - nursing a rough throat with some Chai or such thruout the night - several times there were notes that were missed - but I'm not a Hater.

She belted out some classic Blues, R&B, and even some Grateful Dead (was one of them for some time).

Hour drive from H'town to nosebleed CT was worth it.

  9. I see names on trending on Twitter and wonder 'what boneheaded thing happened now'. I see Randy Foye trending and thought maybe he had scored in his own basket to lose the game or something, but actually he did something wow worthy

    NBA ‏@NBA
Randy Foye sets a @UtahJazz record w/ 7 3PM in the 2nd half, finishing 8/9 total from deep for 26pts as UTA beats BK 116-107. Deron: 21, 11a
