E. Downloaded this just last night. I've never listened to Locust's old records, but a coupla snippets of this brand-spanking-new LP after a 15 year hiatus had me intriged.
The songs from Aaron Dilloway and Coil could be warmup music (even though I'm not lefty, I'm my mind I'm a journeyman lefty reliever) if I'd feel like being horribly difficult to the fans.
The Knife song listed would be good, too. The beat's fantastic. (Has anyone sampled this to rap over it?) But the lyrics, vocals, and theme are... difficult.

01. Haven't gone back to this album in a while, but this song remains awesome.
02. What in the world? This is not what I expected from The Men. I like it but woah.
03. If I'm not careful I'll write a novel about Rich Boy. I love this guy. I'm so glad he's back dropping new stuff. He's got one of the greatest rap voices ever combined with a sneering delivery that I go nuts for. There's a lot of production on this album that is unlike other stuff he's spit over. It all works, but this track sounds like it'd fit right in on the incredible run of mixtapes he went on after his debut album dropped. Love it.
04. Well I know what I'm listening to after my random ten. This rules.
05. My friend was talking this album up but didn't say much about it. This is way up my alley. I'll be listening to this really soon.
06. I think this came out in 2012 but it's on my 2013 album playlist since it was way at the end of the year and I needed to decide if I should go see these guys when they come to town. I mean, I probably didn't need to listen to it to confirm I want to go - I like almost everything In the Red puts out.
07. I don't remember why I added this to my list. I assume I read a good review? Seems fine, but I'm not in the mood for this now.
08. Ah man this is just the instrumental interlude before "Male Gaze." This is still my favorite thing I've heard this year. Going to go back and listen to "Male Gaze" in a minute.
09. I'd always meant to listen to the post-reformation Wire stuff, so I figured I'd just start with this new album. I like this song. It's no Pink Flag but what is? Will listen to the rest of the album soon.
10. Hmmm. I'm going to need to listen to this album here very soon. This is... okay but it sounds a lot more like the YYY stuff I'm lukewarm on than the stuff I adore.

YEESSS. The album's alright, but for some reason, this song just plain works for me.

Yeah, they switched up their style a ton for the new one.
"Despair" is actually one of my favorite songs on Mosquito. It kinda sounds like a Show Your Bones b-side, which is why I love it but probably why some may not. I accept that not everybody is as obsessed with Show Your Bones as I am.
I think Show Your Bones is their best full length, I really love it. The song sounded to me like a cross between the songwriting from that album with the more stripped down production from their older stuff? And I don't know, it just felt like there was something... missing. It might be that I heard a song from the middle of a record and haven't heard the rest, to be honest.

03. If I'm not careful I'll write a novel about Rich Boy. I love this guy. I'm so glad he's back dropping new stuff. He's got one of the greatest rap voices ever combined with a sneering delivery that I go nuts for. There's a lot of production on this album that is unlike other stuff he's spit over. It all works, but this track sounds like it'd fit right in on the incredible run of mixtapes he went on after his debut album dropped. Love it.

05. My friend was talking this album up but didn't say much about it. This is way up my alley. I'll be listening to this really soon.
06. I think this came out in 2012 but it's on my 2013 album playlist since it was way at the end of the year and I needed to decide if I should go see these guys when they come to town. I mean, I probably didn't need to listen to it to confirm I want to go - I like almost everything In the Red puts out.

08. Ah man this is just the instrumental interlude before "Male Gaze." This is still my favorite thing I've heard this year. Going to go back and listen to "Male Gaze" in a minute.
09. I'd always meant to listen to the post-reformation Wire stuff, so I figured I'd just start with this new album. I like this song. It's no Pink Flag but what is? Will listen to the rest of the album soon.
10. Hmmm. I'm going to need to listen to this album here very soon. This is... okay but it sounds a lot more like the YYY stuff I'm lukewarm on than the stuff I adore.
YEESSS. The album's alright, but for some reason, this song just plain works for me.

"Despair" is actually one of my favorite songs on Mosquito. It kinda sounds like a Show Your Bones b-side, which is why I love it but probably why some may not. I accept that not everybody is as obsessed with Show Your Bones as I am.
I think Show Your Bones is their best full length, I really love it. The song sounded to me like a cross between the songwriting from that album with the more stripped down production from their older stuff? And I don't know, it just felt like there was something... missing. It might be that I heard a song from the middle of a record and haven't heard the rest, to be honest.

As tempting as it would be to have Leyland Kirby as my walk-up music and depress everyone in the crowd, it seems like this is the type of thing that Sleigh Bells is made for. Suicide Machines or Heartless Bastards would also be good choices.
Two songs that I've come back to a couple of times over the past few weeks. I haven't heard anything else by either of these artists, so I can't even point anyone to more samples.
