Game 46: Twins @ Tigers

The losing streak has reached double digits! Can the Twins press on toward the greater glory on a 30 game losing streak? Can P.J. Walters make some sort of difference against a Tigers lineup that looks like they're having way too much fun in this series? Will Doug Fister give up fewer hits today than Anibal Sanchez did last night? Will Bioshock Infinite prove to be too tempting for me to resist?

Tune in and see - or watch QVC or something.

  1. Jeremy Guthrie currently is throwing a no-hitter for Kansas City, but is trailing the Angels 1-0.

  2. For those who don't wish to subject themselves to the Twins this afternoon, USA v. Canada rugby is on IRB.com at the same time.

        1. If it were REAL football, it would be on broadcast and there would be scantily-clad "cheerleaders," and lots and lots of beer commercials.

    1. Whoever is running the camera at this match is doing a terrible job. And the quality looks like someone has pointed an iPhone at a TV showing the match.

      1. NM, I didn't see this note on the page:

** DUE TO BAD WEATHER AND TECHNICAL ISSUES, ONLY SINGLE CAMERA COVERAGE IS POSSIBLE. WE APOLOGISE FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE **

I guess I can cut them some slack. At least they wanted to do better.

        1. also, the REAL national championships are going on today and tomorrow. The Alma Mater (jock school) dominated in pool play in the Open division on both gender sides. I hasten to add that all four alma mater clubs qualified for nationals (Open men's and women's, D-III men's and women's).

    1. crax. I was just debating whether to go take a post-workout shower, or tune in. And I missed it!

  3. I'm listening on the radio, so I don't know if the ball went over the fence or not, but knowing Joe West is the crew chief gives me complete confidence that the correct call will be made.

  4. Okay, I got us a lead, now I have to go get ready for a wedding. It's up to youse guys to bring it home from here.

    1. For hijinx, when you say if anyone objects to the marriage or to forever hold their peace, let it hang for a full minute. Heehee.

  5. P.J. Walters doesn't lend itself easily to nicknames. The Pajamaman?

  6. so the ruling is Willingham was either out of the baseline, or slide towards Peralta resulting in an automatic DP.

so confusing, and I cant recall ever seeing such a play.

    1. I think they called Willingham for throwing his hands in the air as he slid to disrupt the throw.

        1. if you are out, you gotta get out of the way of the throw. But (judging from the radio), sounds like Joe F. West took a cowboy interpretation of that rule.

  7. Wilken Ramirez knocked himself out by running into Willingham , but Ramirez caught the ball. jeepers.

  8. Cowboy up

    Mike Berardino ‏@MikeBerardino
Gardy on ejection by Joe West: "He said, 'Don’t point at my dirt.' I pointed at his dirt. There you have it. 'OK, have a good day.' "

  9. Just came back from Into Darkness and apparently the Twins won? I will queue up another Star Trek movie for tomorrow's game.

  10. Joe Mauer is awesome! P. J. Walters is awesome! The Twins are undefeated in games where Gardy pointed at Joe West's dirt! We're still on track for 135-27!
