Minor Details: Games of 7/20

A tough day for Twins affiliates.  Matthew Summers had an excellent game.  Oswaldo Arcia hit a home run.

SYRACUSE 7, ROCHESTER 1 IN ROCHESTER

Batting starOswaldo Arcia was 1-for-3 with a walk and a home run, his seventh.

PItching starsShairon Martis struck out three in 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and no walks.  Michael Tonkin pitched a scoreless inning, giving up two hits and no walks.

Opposition stars:  Yunesky Maya pitched 6.2 innings, allowing one run on two hits and a walk with two strikeouts.  Zach Walters was 3-for-4 with a double and a two-run homer, scoring three times.  Corey Brown was 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, and a triple, scoring twice.

Key inning:  The fifth.  The Red Wings trailed 3-0 when Arcia hit a one-out homer to put them on the board.  In the bottom of the inning, the Chiefs got a one-out double by Brown and a two-run two-out homer by Walters to put the game out of reach at 5-1.

Prospect watchChris Parmelee was 0-for-4.  Eduardo Escobar was 0-for-3.  Liam Hendriks pitched 5.1 innings, allowing seven runs on ten hits and two walks with three strikeouts.

BINGHAMTON 10, NEW BRITAIN 2 IN NEW BRITAIN

Batting starJosmil Pinto was 2-for-4.

Pitching starB. J. Hermsen pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit and no walks.

Opposition stars:  Jennry Mejia struck out eight in six innings, allowing one run on three hits and two walks.  Cesar Puello was 3-for-5 with two doubles, scoring once and driving in three.  Wilfredo Tovar was 3-for-4 with a walk and a triple, scoring three times.

Key inning:  The first.  Binghamton started the game with a double by Daniel Muno.  With one out, Puello had an RBI single, stole second, and scored on a two-out single by Rhyne Huges to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.

Prospect watchEddie Rosario was 0-for-4.  Miguel Sano was 1-for-4 with a double.  Trevor May struck out six in 3.2 innings, but gave up five runs (four earned) on seven hits and three walks.

FORT MYERS 3, DUNEDIN 1 IN DUNEDIN (10 INNINGS)

Batting starsMike Kvasnicka was 1-for-2 with two doubles and scored once.  Stephen Wickens was 1-for-3 with a walk and scored twice.  J. D. Williams was 1-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs.

Pitching starsMatthew Summers pitched eight innings, giving up an unearned run on three hits and three walks while striking out six.  Chad Rodgers pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit and no walks.  Zach Jones pitched a scoreless inning, giving up no hits and one walk while striking out one.

Opposition stars:  Scott Copeland struck out seven in 5.1 scoreless innings of relief, allowing one run on five hits and no walks.  Marcus Knecht was 2-for-4.

Key inning:  The tenth.  The score was tied at one.  Three walks loaded the bases with one out, an error brought in the go-ahead run, and a force out brought home an insurance run.

Prospect watchByron Buxton was 0-for-5 with an RBI.  Aderlin Mejia was 1-for-4 with a walk.  Dalton Hicks was 0-for-5.  Kennys Vargas was 1-for-4 with a double.

FORT WAYNE 1, CEDAR RAPIDS 0 IN FORT WAYNE

Batting starsJonathan Murphy was 2-for-4 with a walk.  Adam Brett Walker II was 2-for-5 with a double.  Niko Goodrum was 2-for-5.

Pitching starsTim Atherton struck out nine in seven innings, giving up one run on five hits and no walks.  Caleb Brewer struck out two in a perfect inning.

Opposition stars:  Bryan Rodriguez pitched seven innings, allowing six hits and three walks with five strikeouts.  Mallex Smith was 2-for-4 with a double and scored once.

Key inning:  The sixth.  It was a scoreless tie.  With one out, Smith and Corey Adamson singled, a wild pitch moved them to second and third, and a ground out scored Smith with the game's only run.

Prospect watchMax Kepler was 0-for-4 with a walk.

DANVILLE 3, ELIZABETHTON 2 IN ELIZABETHTON

Batting starsZach Granite was 3-for-4 with a walk and an RBI.  Dereck Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with an RBI.  Tanner Vavra was 2-for-3.

Pitching starsHein Robb struck out six in five innings, giving up one run on five hits and two walks.  Brandon Bixler struck out all five batters he faced.  Brian Gilbert pitched two perfect innings with one strikeout.

Opposition stars:  Jared Dettman pitched four innings, allowing an unearned run on three hits and a walk while striking out three.  Justin Black was 3-for-4 with two doubles, scoring once and driving in two.

Key inning:  The sixth.  The score was tied at one.  A single, a walk, and a wild pitch put Braves on second and third with one out.  Black then delivered a two-run double to give Danville a lead it would not relinquish.

GCL RED SOX 3, GCL TWINS 2 AT TWINS (10 INNINGS)

Batting starJoel Polanco was 1-for-3 with a walk, a double, and an RBI.

Pitching starsFernando Romero struck out four in four innings, giving up one run on three hits and a walk.  Zach Hayden pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.  Daniel Sattler pitched a scoreless inning, giving up no hits and one walk with one strikeout.

Opposition stars:  Randy Perez struck out five in five innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk.  Wendell Rijo was 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI.  Raymel Flores was 1-for-2 with two walks and a triple and scored once.

Key inning:  The tenth.  The score was tied at two.  With a runner on first and two out, Carlos Coste doubled to put runners on second and third.  Tyler Stirewalt then balked in the go-ahead run.

Prospect watchAmaurys Minier was 0-for-3.  Alex Swim was 1-for-3 and scored once.  Engelb Vielma was 1-for-4 and scored once.

  1. I hope Arcia gets back on track in AAA, looks like he's off to a good start. He was definitely looking a little lost for the last week with the Twins.
