July 21, 2013: Four in a Row

I like these winning streaks wrapped around the All-Star break. The Twins haven't lost in more than a week. Plus, it allowed Scott to pitch in four games in a row and save three of them.

  1. It is Scott Perkins and Glen Diamond now, right? This may be just what Diamond needs to get his mojo back.

  2. not many people wold have guessed Phil Mickelson to roar down the back 9 to win The Open.
#17 where he nutted a 3 wood from 300yds out, into a stiff wind, was something else.

    1. I had golf on at the rink this morning. When I saw the leaderboard around 7:00 I thought "THis should be another respectable finish for Mickelson" I did not expect him to do what he did.

  3. Programming Alert:

USA-El Salvador in the Gold Cup/Copa Oro quarterfinals is on FOX at 3:30/2:30 Central. Kick-off is actually at 4/3C. The final quarterfinal is tonight at 7 when Honduras faces Costa Rica.

Semi-finalists are Panama (6-1 over Cuba) and Mexico (1-0 over T&T), plus the winner of today's two games.

  4. today is the final stage of the Tour de France. I watched more of the race this year than the last 10 years combined because NBCSN was showing replays or live coverage in the morning. And if you want to watch quality tv, 6am is not the time.

  5. Friday night I got less sleep than I should have and got up late for work. That is, I woke up at 6:30 when I need to be at the rink at 6:30. Luckily, my jeans were right there next to the bed and I was at work inside 60 seconds (sans breakfast, but still could have been worse). So yesterday I was really tired and fell asleep on the couch around 9ish. I though "Damn, I must have been really tired" when I woke up around 11:30. As it turns out, I bought regular benadryl yesterday, not non-drowsy. I figured that out when I went to take one before work this morning and saw the warning on the label.

  6. Miami was shut out for the weekend in Milwaukee.
they have not score a run in 37 innings, the longest streak since the 85 Astros.
