        1. Everyone remembers different stuff. I'm terrible at remembering stats, uniform numbers and anything that happened before 1996. Give me a factoid with a little something weird about it, and it'll be stuck in my head forever.

      1. We're not going to gloss over the fact that Joe is the one who accidentally blinded him, are we? That's insane. I'd feel so terrible if I blinded a stranger, much less my kid (if I had one).

        1. I actually wasn't aware of it before googling for the link. As a father that takes my kids fishing, I completely understand how that could happen. I can't imagine how bad it would make me feel.

          1. Went fishing with a guide on Leech Lake many years back who suggested everyone who fishes should wear some sort of eye protection.

            1. Not a bad idea. I always feel like I'm more likely to lose an eye when I take my kids fishing.

I could not finish the linked story.

            2. When I was 7 or 8, I cast a hook right into my little sister's calf. (She was standing behind me.) Fortunately there was no real harm done once the shock wore off.
