  1. I predict that Albers will give up his first major league run, but it will be unearned. (Casilla's fault)

  2. JeffA alert:

St. Paul Saints announce Twins have purchased contract of IF Brad Boyer, 29-year-old ex-Giant draftee. He's been assigned to AA New Britain.

  3. USA Rugby vs. Canada in Charleston is not going well for the Eagles. I was considering going down and visiting my cousin and catching this game, but it looks like I'm glad I didn't (Rugby-wise, anyway. Seeing my cousin would have been nice)

    1. How did you prep?

I grilled eggplant last week for the Girl. doused thick slices with olive oil and sprinkled with salt 'n pepper. Tasty and simply.

    1. I havent checked out FS1 yet because it hasnt been added to my small cable box in my room.
MLS on NBCSN is my alternative

      1. FIOS didn't update their guide until this afternoon, though it was coming in this morning. If you get Speed, it's on the channel that used to be Speed.

        1. apparently, FS1 has been added to the main box in the house, but I dont watch that tv.
recently, the cable was updated and added FOX Soccer, but thats changing to FXX soon, which is great because Its Alwasy Sunny in Philly is moving to that channel.

            1. even though I own all the seasons on DVD (Season 5 out on Sept 3), I'll probably watch that

I also see that Parks and Rec and Modern Family are the two show added to all the station that run syndicated programming. And WGNAmerica is showing Parks and Rec. And the new Esquire channel (right now its G4) paired with Party Down (!)

  4. Ron Coomer's breakdown of Joe Mauer's swing involves video and pointing out things.
Bert Blyleven's breakdown is 'put the barrel of the bat on the ball'

I approve of FSN's choice of adding a few hitters (Coom, Smalley) to break down swings during the broadcast.

  5. Watching Anna Karenina whilst blogging Twins game. Very thick, Russian, Knightley, pince nez, mustachios, etc.

    1. Very thick, Russian, Knightley

One of these things is not like the others. One of these things doesn't belong.

  6. I wonder if plate umpires have been instructed to make more checked-swing calls themselves, rather than appealing. It seems like plate umpires have been making more of those calls than they used to.

  7. Florimon with a moderate degree of difficulty on that pick/throw to start the DP. I'll give it a 7 of 10.

  8. Mr. Albers with 20ish innings under his belt and FSN rates him as a star pitcher like Chris Sale.

    selling hope hard.

  9. Bert says Thielbar has gone unnoticed out of the bullpen

I really need to start muting the games.

    1. Watching all the bad corner outfield play from this team over the last few years has made me get really upset when another team makes anything more than a routine play in the corners since the Twins seem to be unable to do a damn thing.

        1. well, at least 2 runs scored because the OFers lost the ball in the sky.

And not to read into Gardy's mind, but instead of being tied in the 9th they were down a run and Fien was left in the game instead of Perkins being in (as Gardy would want Perk in for the non save 9th inning like he has done with his closers for 10+ years). Maybe De Aza doesnt hit a 600 foot HR. Its getting into what ifs, but I think the Twins win that game.

      1. I was really disappointed earlier when he flew out to the warning track, 'cause I've been sitting on that one for a while.

  10. Kris Atteberry ‏@tteberry
7 #MNTwins with double-figure homers after Doumit's 10th. Most since team record 9 in 2004, including 10 from Henry Blanco

    we still miss him

  11. Looks like this is going to end just about in time for you all to go watch Browne vs. Overeem!

  12. Well, there's never been a pitcher with a significant number of innings who had a career ERA of 0.00, and I guess Andrew Albers won't be the first. We'll just have to settle for 95-67!
