September 7, 2013: Little Things

Last night my wife and I took the girls to see Wreck-It Ralph at the Goodyear Ballpark, where they show a free kids' movie once a month. This is some of the most fun the four of us have ever had together and it costs nothing.

    1. At least there wasn't a blown call involved. Not that that's ever happened to a journeyman on the cusp of perfection.

  1. Spoons, the City of Minneapolis shows free movies at parks throughout the summer. A few weeks ago, Sheenie and I joined some friends to watch Honey, I Shrunk the Kids at the Lake Harriet Bandstand. While the movie didn't particularly hold up well, it was still fun and great way to encourage a picnic.

  2. So the crowd at Target Field last night was ... sparse. I decided to count the number of jerseys (jerseys and shirseys) in the two sections below me. Which player who appeared in yesterday's game was featured on the most jerseys?

    1. Not the result I would have expected,

      1. Not in the two sections below me. I did see a fantastic Roger Clemens jersey in the concourse. I also saw a sweet Juan Guzman throwback.

Also, someone has already bought an Andrew Albers shirsey.

    2. In my personal biased and informal survey of sports gear at the Minnesota State Fair, I would say I saw more Twins gear than all other teams combined. I was expecting to see plenty of Vikings gear, but I noticed way more Twins stuff. Maybe I'm just programmed to notice Twins stuff more, but what I noticed wasn't close.

      1. I think its because baseball gear (hats, jerseys, shirsey) is easier to wear as an everyday item than a football jersey or hockey sweater.

I see lots of Twins gear when Im out and about, but Vikings stuff only on gameday.

BUT, more Vikings decals and flags (!!) on cars and trucks

      1. There's been one time I've been at Target Field and seen someone in a Julio DePaula jersey. On that occasion, the person called out, "Hey, Will!" I forget, was that 2010 we bumped into each other?

  3. If there's anything good that came out of the CONCACAF WCQs last night, it's that

    a) Mexico lost
    b) at the Azteca
    c) and their head coach got canned for it.

  4. I'm listening to the Brewers because I'm bored and like Bob Uecker. I learned that they have a guy named Scooter Gennett. That's a solid name right there.

  5. Eminem stopped by the TV booth during the Michigan/Notre Dame game. The reason, I have no idea. He is a Michigan guy I guess. Anyway, Brent Musburger is one of the greats:

Brent Musburger just asked Eminem: "Will the Lions cover 4 1/2 against Minnesota tomorrow?" We're done. Go home. Drive home safely.

Musburger and Al Michaels, thats all I need for football
