Fall Festival: Games of 11/1

A good game for Trevor May.  Cameron Cameron comes through for Peoria.

SALT RIVER 6, GLENDALE 2 IN SALT RIVER

Twins:  Eddie Rosario was 0-for-4.  Max Kepler was 1-for-4.  A. J. Achter pitched two-thirds of an inning, giving up four runs (three earned) on three hits and two walks with one strikeout.  Trevor May struck out two in 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up two hits and no walks.

Glendale:  Danny Black (Miami) was 3-for-4 with two RBIs.  Brent Keys (Miami) was 2-for-4.

Salt River:  Kenny Wilson (Toronto) was 3-for-5 with a triple and a run.  Mike Freeman (Arizona) was 2-for-4 with three RBIs.  Bo Schultz (Arizona) pitched five innings, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks with two strikeouts.

The game:  Glendale scored two in the second on a Black two-run single to take a 2-0 lead.  Salt River came back with one in the bottom of the second and took the lead with four in the third.  A triple and an error produced the first run, followed by a walk and three RBI singles.  Glendale never threatened to get back in to the game.

PEORIA 5, MESA 4 IN MESA

Peoria:  Cameron Perkins (Philadelphia) was 3-for-4 with a double and a triple, scoring three times and driving in one.  Cameron Rupp (Philadelphia) was 2-for-4 with a walk and a triple, scoring once and driving in one.  Jason Adam (Kansas City) pitched five shutout innings, giving up two hits and two walks with three strikeouts.

Mesa:  Devon Travis (Detroit) was 2-for-5 with a double and a home run (his second), driving in two.  Albert Almora (Cubs) was 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, and a triple.  Sammy Solis (Washington) struck out four in four innings, allowing two unearned runs on three hits and a walk.

The game:  Peoria scored two in the first and led 3-0 after five.  Mesa got one in the sixth, but Peoria got back-to-back triples from back-to-back Camerons, Perkins and Rupp, to score twice in the seventh and make it 5-1.  In the seventh, Dixon Machado (Detroit) hit a two-run triple for Mesa and eventually came around to score to make it 5-4.  Mesa had runners on first and second with two out in the seventh and had a runner on third with one out in the ninth.

SURPRISE 6, SCOTTSDALE 3 IN SURPRISE

Scottsdale:  Jarrett Parker (San Francisco) was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run.  Aderlin Rodriguez (Mets) was 2-for-4 with an RBI.  Mason Williams (Yankees) was 2-for-5 with an RBI.

Surprise:  Tyler Naquin (Cleveland) was 3-for-5 with a double, scoring three times and driving in two.  Mitch Haniger (Milwaukee) was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.  Miguel Pena (Boston) struck out five in five innings, allowing one run on three hits and three walks.

The game:  Surprise scored one in the first and three in the second on a two-run single by Naquin and an RBI double by Haniger to take a 4-0 lead.  Scottsdale got one in the fifth and one in the seventh to cut it to 5-2, but Surprise came back with two in the bottom of the seventh on a single, an error, an RBI single by Joe Wendle (Cleveland), and a wild pitch.  Scottsdale got one in the eighth and got the tying run up to bat with two out.
