Dominican Digest: Games of 11/10

A comeback for Cibao.  Fine pitching for Licey.  Este wins with the long ball.

ESTE 6, ESCOGIDO 1 IN ESTE

Twins:  Jorge Polanco (Escogido) was 0-for-4.

Escogido:  Erik Gonzalez (Cleveland) was 3-for-3.  Pedro Ciriaco (Pittsburgh) was 3-for-4.  Jarrett Grube (Angels) pitched 5.1 innings, giving up two runs on two hits and no walks with four strikeouts.

Este:  Ryan Dennick (Cincinnati) pitched 5.1 innings, allowing one run on six hits and no walks with two strikeouts.  Donell Linares was 1-for-2 with a walk and a home run.

The game:  Eury Perez led off the game with a homer to give Escogido a 1-0 lead.  It held up until the sixth, when homers by Linares and Cesar Puello (Mets) made it 2-1 Este.  Este added four in the eighth with Hector Gomez (Milwaukee) capping the scoring with a two-run homer.

LICEY 3, AGUILAS 1 IN LICEY

Aguilas:  Juan Lagares (Mets) was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Licey:  Luis Terrero was 2-for-3 with a double.  Chris Narveson pitched seven innings, allowing one run on three hits and no walks with six strikeouts.

The game:  All the runs were scored in the sixth.  Lagares hit an RBI single in the top of the inning to give Aguilas a 1-0 lead, but Chris Marrero hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the inning.  Aguilas did not get the tying run on base.

ORIENTE 5, CIBAO 1 IN CIBAO

Oriente:  Esmerling Vasquez struck out five in five shutout innings, giving up two hits and two walks.  Denis Phipps was 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run homer.

Cibao:  Moises Sierra (Toronto) was 2-for-4.  Kevin Pucetas (Texas) pitched six innings, allowing an unearned run on two hits and one walk with two strikeouts.

The game:  Marcell Ozuna hit an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth for Cibao to tie the score at once.  Oriente came back to score four in the ninth.  Jonathan Galvez (San Diego) hit a pinch-hit two-run double and Phipps hit a two-run homer.
