Australian Audit: Games of 11/17

Keon lights up the scoreboard for Sydney.  A big win for Adelaide.

SYDNEY 7, BRISBANE 2 IN BRISBANE

Twins:  Logan Wade (Brisbane) was 0-for-3.

Sydney:  Keon Broxton (Arizona) was 3-for-5 with a double and a two-run homer (his second), scoring twice.  Trent Oeltjen was 2-for-5 with a home run (his fourth) and two runs.  Connor Whalen struck out seven in five innings, giving up two runs on four hits and one walk.

Brisbane:  Joshua Roberts was 2-for-4.  Ryan Battaglia (Cleveland) was 1-for-3 with a walk and a home run, his third.

The game:  Sydney got two in the second and Broxton's two-run homer made it 4-0 after three.  Brisbane got single runs in the fourth and fifth to cut the lead to 4-2, but a single and two doubles in the sixth made it 6-2 and put Sydney in control of the game.

ADELAIDE 13, MELBOURNE 1 IN MELBOURNE

Adelaide:  Chris Jacobs (Dodgers) was 4-for-6 with a home run, scoring three times and driving in two.  Ben Lodge was 3-for-6 with a run and an RBI.  Kyle Brueggemann pitched six innings, giving up one run on four hits and no walks with four strikeouts.

Melbourne:  Justin Trapp (Kansas City) was 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI.

The game:  A Chris Adamson two-run double capped a four-run first for Adelaide.  They eventually built a 7-0 lead before the lone Melbourne run scored in the sixth.  A six-run ninth put the game well out of reach.
