Dominican Digest: Games of 11/22

Good days for Chris Colabello and Jorge Polanco.  Errors help Cibao to victory.

ESTE 1, AGUILAS 0 IN ESTE

Twins:  Danny Santana (Aguilas) was 1-for-4 with a double.  Chris Colabello (Este) was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Aguilas:  Juan Perez (San Francisco) was 2-for-4.  Zoilo Almonte (Yankees) was 2-for-4.  Angel Castro pitched seven innings, giving up one run on nine hits and one walk with five strikeouts.

Este:  Cristhian Adames (Colorado) was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run.  Jose Ramirez (Cleveland) was 2-for-2.  Elih Villaneuva (Miami) struck out seven in 5.1 innings, allowing five hits and one walk.

The game:  Colabello singled in Adames in the first inning and it held up for the entire game.  Aguilas had runners on first and third in each of the first two innings.

ESCOGIDO 5, ORIENTE 2 IN ESCOGIDO

Twins:  Jorge Polanco (Escogido) was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run.

Oriente:  Jackson Williams was 2-for-3 with a double and a run.  Ed Rogers was 2-for-4 with a double.  Michael Martinez was 2-for-4.

Escogido:  Erik Gonzalez (Cleveland) was 2-for-4 with a double and a run.  Gregory Polanco (Pittsburgh) was 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs.  Edward Valdez struck out seven in five innings, allowing two unearned runs on six hits and one walk.

The game:  Oriente scored single runs in the first and fifth to go ahead 2-0, but Escogido came back with a four-run bottom of the fifth.  Gregory Polanco had a two-run single in the inning.  Oriente had the tying run on base with none out in the seventh.  Escogido added an insurance run in the eighth.

CIBAO 3, LICEY 2 IN CIBAO

Licey:  Juan Francisco (Milwaukee) was 2-for-4 with an RBI.  Pedro Figueroa (Oakland) pitched two shutout innings, giving up one hit and no walks with one strikeout.

Cibao:  Wilson Betemit (Baltimore) was 2-for-4 with an RBI.  Leury Garcia was 2-for-2 with an RBI.  Kevin Pucetas (Texas) pitched 5.2 innings, allowing two runs on two hits and two walks with three strikeouts.

The game:  An error and four singles produced two runs for Cibao in the third.  Licey tied it in the sixth on a home run by Carlos Triunfel (Seattle) and an RBI single by Francisco.  It stayed even until the ninth, when Hanser Alberto (Texas) singled, went to third on another single, and scored on a sacrifice fly.
