MAZATLAN 2, GUASAVE 0 IN MAZATLAN

Guasave:  Jesus Cota was 1-for-2 with the lone Guasave hit, a single.  James Avery pitched six shutout innings, giving up three hits and three walks with two strikeouts.

Mazatlan:  Curt Smith was 1-for-3 with a home run (his second) and two RBIs.  Orlando Hudson was 1-for-3 with a walk.  Mauricio Lara pitched five shutout innings, allowing one hit and two walks with two strikeouts.

The game:  Mazatlan scored both of its runs in the seventh on Curt Smith's two-run homer.

NAVOJOA 4, LOS MOCHIS 2 IN NAVOJOA

Los Mochis:  Saul Soto was 1-for-3 with two RBIs.  Sandy Madera was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run.  Francisco Cordoba pitched six innings, giving up two runs on five hits and one walk with three strikeouts.

Navojoa:  John Lindsey was 1-for-3 with a walk and a home run (his second), driving in two.  Jon Weber was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Hector Velazquez pitched 6.1 innings, allowing one run on four hits and two walks with two strikeouts.

The game:  Navojoa led all the way, scoring two in the first.  Los Mochis did not get on the board until the seventh, cutting the lead to 2-1, but Navojoa got two more in the bottom of the seventh to take control.  The final Los Mochis run came in the ninth.

MEXICALI 6, OBREGON 1 IN OBREGON

Mexicali:  Ramon Rios was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in two.  Brad Snyder (Arizona) was 2-for-2 with three walks and one run.  J Solano pitched six shutout innings, giving up three hits and two walks with four strikeouts.

Obregon:  Said Gutierrez was 3-for-4 with a home run, his third.  Barbaro Canizares was 1-for-3 with a walk.  Oscar Rivera pitched 4.1 innings, allowing one run on six hits and two walks with three strikeouts.

The game:  Mexicali scored four in the sixth to go ahead 5-0 and take control of the game.  The lone Obregon run came in the seventh.

HERMOSILLO 8, CULIACAN 2 IN CULIACAN

Hermosillo:  Leury Garcia (White Sox) was 4-for-5 with a home run (his eighth) and two RBIs.  Carlos Gastelum was 1-for-3 with a walk and three runs.  Pablo Menchaca pitched seven innings, giving up one run on seven hits and three walks with six strikeouts.

Culiacan:  F Perez was 4-for-5 with a run and an RBI.  Ronnier Mustelier (Yankees) was 3-for-5.  Luis Cruz was 2-for-4 with a walk.

The game:  Hermosillo got two in the first to take the early lead.  Culiacan got one in the third, but Hermosillo scored two more in the fourth to go ahead 4-1.  It went to 7-1 before Culiacan got one more run in the eighth.
