Mexican Matchups: Game of January 18

Jesus saves the day for Hermosillo.  There will be a decisive game seven.

HERMOSILLO 3, LOS MOCHIS 2 IN HERMOSILLO (11 INNINGS)

Los Mochis:  Yancarlo Angulo was 2-for-5 with a run.  Sebastian Valle (Philadelphia) was 2-for-4 with an RBI.  Hector Neris (Philadelphia) struck out three in 2.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and one walk.

Hermosillo:  Luis Alfonzo Garcia was 2-for-5 with a walk and a double, scoring once.  Jerry Owens was 2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI.  Fernando Salas (Angels) struck out four in two shutout innings, allowing one hit and no walks.

The game:  An RBI single by Owens opened the scoring and put Hermosillo ahead 1-0.  In the fifth, Valle singled in one and a force out scored another to give Los Mochis a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the fifth, Garcia singled, went to second on a bunt, took third on an error, and scored on a wild pitch to tie the game.  It stayed there until the eleventh, when pinch-runner Jesus Loya (Boston) scored from first on Garcia's double to win the game.

PLAYOFF SERIES

Navojoa defeated Mexicali four games to one.
Hermosillo and Los Mochis are tied three games apiece.
