Minor Details: Games of June 17

Sean Gilmartin makes an abbreviated debut in Rochester.  A huge day for Nate Hanson.  Jose Berrios shines again.

PAWTUCKET AT ROCHESTER

The game was suspended in the top of the fourth with Pawtucket leading 2-1.  Both runs were unearned, the result of an error which was followed by a Carlos Rivero home run.  Chris Colabello singled in James Beresford with the lone Rochester run so far.  Sean Gilmartin, called up to replace Yohan Pino, made his AAA debut and gave up the two unearned runs.

NEW BRITAIN 7, HARRISBURG 2 IN HARRISBURG

Batting stars:  Nate Hanson was 4-for-4 with two doubles and a walk, scoring twice and driving in one.  Kennys Vargas was 2-for-5 with a grand slam (his thirteenth homer), scoring twice.  Eddie Rosario was 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs.

Pitching stars:  Tyler Duffey pitched five innings, giving up two runs on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts.  Daniel Turpen struck out two in two perfect innings.  Ryan O'Rourke struck out two in one perfect inning.

Opposition stars:  Cutter Dykstra was 3-for-4 with an RBI.  Jeff Kobernus was 2-for-3 with a run.

The game:  Hanson doubled in Rosario in the first to give New Britain a 1-0 lead.  Matt Koch doubled in two in the fourth to make it 3-0, but Harrisburg got both runs back in the bottom of the fourth to cut the lead to 3-2.  It stayed 3-2 until the seventh, when with one out, the Rock Cats got a single, a walk, and a single to load the bases and Vargas unloaded them with a grand slam.  The only Senators threat after the fifth inning came in the eighth, when they opened the inning with two singles.  A double play ended the threat.

Of note:  Tony Thomas was 1-for-5 with a run.  Jim Fuller pitched a scoreless inning, giving up two hits.

FORT MYERS 4, BRADENTON 2 IN FORT MYERS

Batting stars:  Jorge Polanco was 1-for-3 with a walk and a home run, his fifth.  Lance Ray was 1-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Stephen Wickens was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run.

Pitching stars:  Jose Berrios struck out nine in seven innings, giving up one hit and two walks.  Tyler Jones pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one walk with one strikeout.

Opposition stars:  Josh Smith pitched a scoreless inning with two strikeouts.

The game:  Fort Myers opened the scoring in the fourth with a Polanco home run.  Later in the inning, Wickens singled, Ray doubled him home, and Dalton Hicks singled in Ray to give the Miracle a 3-0 lead.  An error in the seventh allowed the fourth run to score.  A walk, two singles, and a sacrifice fly cut the lead to 4-2 in the eighth and brought the tying run up to bat with two out, but Bradenton got no closer.

Of note:  Adam Brett Walker II was 1-for-4.  Hicks was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

MIDWEST LEAGUE WEST 7, MIDWEST LEAGUE EAST 0

Twins:  Bryan Haar was 1-for-2.  Yorman Landa and Kohl Stewart were named to the team but did not play.

The game:  The West scored one in the first, two in the fourth, and four in the sixth.  Herschel Powell had a two-run double and Chad Hinshaw a two-run homer in the sixth inning.

DSL TWINS 12, DSL REDS 2 AT TWINS

Batting stars:  Eugenio Diaz was 2-for-4 with a walk, scoring twice and driving in one.  Robert Molina was 1-for-3 with a double and two walks, scoring once and driving in one.  Jorge Parra was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.

Pitching stars:  Jadison Jimenez pitched seven innings, giving up two runs on two hits with two walks and two strikeouts.  Johan Quezada struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up four walks.

Opposition star:  Leandro Santana was 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs.

The game:  Emmanuel Morel hit a two-run double in the third to give the Twins a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth, two runs scored on an error and a third came in on a double steal of second and home to put the Twins up 5-0.  They added one in the fifth and six in the sixth to put the game out of reach.  Both Reds runs scored in the seventh.  Jimenez did not allow a hit until the sixth.

Of note:  Morel was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.  Carlos Martinez was 0-for-4 with a walk and a run.  Francisco Hernanez was 1-for-2 with two walks and two runs.
