  1. I am a green tea fan. Why did you quit, Pepper?

to be fair, it doesn't go very well with sausages....

    1. Basically, I feel like until the peperoncino consistently sleeps through the night, there's just not enough caffeine in the world to do what I need, so instead I make do without. (This probably doesn't make much sense, but that's sleep deprivation for ya.) Lately, though, I've been jonesing for some of this.

  2. Fort Myers and Daytona were rained out. It'd be cool if they scheduled a possible doubleheader tomorrow to make it up, but I don't suppose they will. Cedar Rapids is at Kane County in about a half hour.

  3. Cedar Rapids goes down in order in the top of the first. Kane County gets a two-out walk, but no more. No score through one.

  4. Cedar Rapids gets its first hit, a Ryan Walker leadoff single, but he's immediately erased on a caught stealing. No score through 2 1/2.

  5. The pitcher's duel continues. Kane County gets a one-out walk but does not advance him. No score through four.

  6. Kane County gets a leadoff walk and a one-out single (the first Cougars hit), but leaves them on first and second. Still scoreless after five.

  7. Kane County made a pitching change to start the sixth, with Tyler Ihrig replacing Paul Blackburn. It made no difference. Cedar Rapids again went down in order in the sixth. No score through 5 1/2.

  8. Cedar Rapids also makes a pitching change, with Jared Wilson replacing John Curtiss. Wilson gets the first two men, but Jacob Rogers hits a home run to put Kane County ahead 1-0. The next man reached on an error, but a strikeout ended the inning. Cougars lead 1-0 after six.

  9. Jonatan Hinojosa hits a one-out single, followed by a two-run homer by Chad Christensen! Max Murphy then doubled and took third on a fly ball, but could not score. Cedar Rapids leads 2-1 through 6 1/2.

      1. How do you know what my best PA announcer's voice sounds like? Have you been to Gettysburg? Or North Sioux City? Or Wessington Springs? If so, why didn't you stop and say hi?

  10. And Kane County gets the lead right back in the bottom of the seventh. The inning opened with a walk to Chesny Young, immediately followed by a two-run homer by Carlos Penalver. The next two batters went out (after the first out, Brian Gilbert replaced Jared Wilson on the mound), then came a single, a walk, and a wild pitch to put men on second and third. A strikeout ended the inning, but the Cougars lead 3-2 through seven.

  11. With one out in the bottom of the eighth, Jeffrey Baez singles, steals second, steals third, and scores on a Chesny Young single. Another single put men on first and third with one out, but a double play ended the inning. Still, it's 3-1 Kane County through eight.

  12. And unfortunately, I have to leave now. You can go to milb.com to get the final. Or, you can wait until tomorrow morning's edition of Minor Details.

  13. An error put the leadoff man on in the ninth, but Cedar Rapids could not get any farther. Kane County wins 4-2 and takes the series two games to none. In the other series, Lake County defeats Fort Wayne 5-4. It'll be Lake County against Kane County in the finals.
