Fall Festival: Games of October 21

Eddie Rosario keeps hitting.  A big comeback for Scottsdale.  Addison Russell adds enough runs for Mesa.

SALT RIVER 5, PEORIA 0 IN SALT RIVER

Twins:  Byron Buxton was 0-for-4.  Eddie Rosario was 2-for-2 with two RBIs.  Max Kepler was 2-for-4 with a run.

Peoria:  Sam Tuivailala (St. Louis) pitched a scoreless inning, giving up only a walk with one strikeout.

Salt River:  Chad Wallach (Miami) was 1-for-2 with a double and a walk, driving in three.  Austin Nola (Miami) was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring twice.  Vincent Velasquez (Houston) pitched four shutout innings, allowing one hit and no walks with two strikeouts.

The game:  Wallach's two-run double in the second provided all the runs Salt River would need.  Peoria had only two hits, both singles, and did not get a man past first base.

SCOTTSDALE 7, GLENDALE 6 IN GLENDALE

Scottsdale:  Tyler Austin (Yankees) was 2-for-5 with a double, scoring once and driving in two.  Josh Bell (Pittsburgh) was 1-for-3 with two walks, scoring once and driving in one.  Clayton Blackburn (San Francisco) pitched two shutout innings, giving up one hit with one strikeout.

Glendale:  Garabez Rosa (Baltimore) was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer.  Scott Schebler (Dodgers) was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.  Francellis Montas (White Sox) pitched four innings, allowing one run on no hits and two walks with three strikeouts.

The game:  Glendale scored four in the second and led 6-1 after five.  Scottsdale scored single runs in the sixth and seventh and scored four in the eighth, aided by two errors.  Kelby Tomlinson (San Francisco) had a two-run double to put Scottsdale in the lead to stay.

MESA 11, SURPRISE 6 IN SURPRISE

Mesa:  Daniel Robertson (Texas) was 3-for-5 with a home run, scoring twice and driving in two.  Cal Towey (Angels) was 3-for-4 with a home run and a walk, scoring twice.  Gerardo Concepcion (Cubs) struck out two in 2.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit.

Surprise:  Deven Marrero (Boston) was 2-for-3 with two doubles and two walks, scoring twice.  Patrick Kivlehan (Seattle) was 4-for-5, scoring once and driving in three.  Ryan Dennick (Cincinnati) pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.

The game:  Addison Russell (Cubs) hit a two-run homer in the fifth to put Mesa ahead 7-6.  Jacob Hannemann (Cubs) hit a two-run single in the eighth that made the score 10-6 and put the game out of reach.
