Fall Festival: Games of November 4

A three-run single makes the difference for Mesa.  Peoria gets enough runs in the first inning.  Glendale gets an easy win.

MESA 3, SALT RIVER 1 IN SALT RIVER

Twins:  Max Kepler was 0-for-4 with a run.  Jason Adam struck out two in 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and two walks.  Zack Jones struck out two in a scoreless inning, giving up no hits and no walks.

Mesa:  Dan Vogelbach (Cubs) was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.  Pedro Severino (Washington) was 2-for-4 with a double.  Felipe Rivero (Washington) pitched five innings, giving up one run on one hit and one walk with four strikeouts.

Salt River:  Peter O'Brien (Arizona) was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.  Taylor Featherston (Colorado) was 1-for-3 with a walk.  Nelson Gonzalez (Colorado) struck out three in three perfect innings.

The game:  Vogelbach had a three-run single in the top of the first and O'Brien singled in a run in the bottom of the first.  Mesa loaded the bases in the second and sixth and Salt River loaded them in the ninth, but no more runs were scored.

PEORIA 5, SCOTTSDALE 2 IN SCOTTSDALE

Peoria:  Jacob Wilson (St. Louis) was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in two.  Raul Mondesi (Kansas City) was 2-for-4 with a run.  Tyrell Jenkins (St. Louis) pitched three innings, giving up one run despite five hits and three walks with one strikeout.

Scottsdale:  Roman Quinn (Philadelphia) was 1-for-3 with two walks and a run.  Elias Diaz (Pittsburgh) was 1-for-3 with two walks and an RBI.  Colton Murray (Philadelphia) pitched two perfect innings with one strikeout.

The game:  Wilson had a two-run single in a three-run first that got Peoria the early lead.  Scottsdale had a run walked in in the third, but Peoria scored two in the fourth and was never threatened again.

GLENDALE 7, SURPRISE 3 IN SURPRISE

Glendale:  Steven Moya (Detroit) was 3-for-4 with a home run (his fourth) and a double, scoring three times and driving in three.  Kevan Smith (White Sox) was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring once and driving in one.  Zach Davies (Baltimore) pitched four innings, giving up one run on five hits and no walks with two strikeouts.

Surprise:  Jace Peterson (San Diego) was 3-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Nick Williams (Texas) was 2-for-4 with an RBI.  Matt Brazis (Seattle) pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, allowing only a walk.

The game:  Surprise got one in the first, but Smith had a two-run double as part of a three-run second and Glendale led the rest of the way.  The lead went to 7-1 before Surprise scored two in the ninth.
