Down Under Daily: Games of November 8

Harman hits a walkoff for Melbourne.  One inning is all Sydney needs.

MELBOURNE 2, BRISBANE 1 IN MELBOURNE (11 INNINGS)

Twins:  Logan Wade was 0-for-4 for Brisbane.

Brisbane:  Joshua Roberts (Cleveland) was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring once.  Johnny Field (Tampa Bay) was 2-for-5.  Ryan Searle (Cubs) struck out seven in 6.2 innings, giving up one run on two hits and five walks.

Melbourne:  Brad Harman (Philadelphia) was 1-for-3 with a home run and two walks.  Josh Davies (San Diego) was 1-for-3 with a double and a run.  Nick Blount (White Sox) pitched six innings, allowing one run on three hits and no walks with four strikeouts.

The game:  Chace Numata's (Philadelphia) RBI single for Melbourne in the seventh tied it at one and Harman led off the eleventh with a walkoff homer.

SYDNEY 3, CANBERRA 1 IN CANBERRA

Sydney:  Tyler Bortnick (Arizona) was 2-for-4 with a double and a run.  Joshua Dean was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.  Luke Wilkins pitched 7.1 innings, giving up one run on six hits and a walk with two strikeouts.

Canberra:  Jack Murphy (Toronto) was 2-for-4 with a run.  Jason Sloan was 2-for-3 with an RBI.  Wayne Ough struck out four in 2.2 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and no walks.

The game:  Dean had a two-run single in a three-run sixth that put Sydney up 3-0.  Canberra scored once in the seventh and had the bases loaded with two out, but a ground out ended the inning and they did not threaten again.
