Will it ever end?

We've gotten nailed by blizzards the last four Mondays (min 5, max 12").  So even though my half-marathon training has been impacted - not doing early week runs (hate running on a treadmill), we've still been able to get in the Saturday morning long-runs.

Today was our taper (only 5 miles) before next weekend's Half -  a cold run at 8F - but no wind.  I'm really sore from all of the snow-blowing and shovelling.  And we're forecasting to get 8 more inches this evening.

The folks at Hyannis hosting the Half Marathon sent out a notice that it might be cancelled/rescheduled as they already have a bunch of snow on the ground, are getting more today, and are forecasting to get more next weekend - no place for parking, streets difficult to run, safety concerns for volunteers/runners...

  1. It was in the 70s here yesterday. I had to bust out my bell-bottoms and nylon print shirts lawn mower.

  2. also, I got on the scale yesterday after my workout and mowing the lawn. 190-point-summat. I know a bunch of that was water loss, but still unusual to see a number ending in less than 4 or 5 for the ones column. I HAVE been more consistent about my weekend workouts and a little more circumspect about my soda-and-chips consumption at work, but still.

  3. I've been pretty good at sticking with my goal of 6 workout days per week. Occasionally, I end up with 4 or 5 but it has been due to traveling, family, etc.

I wimped out on my run this morning due to the cold. I can do sub-zero runs but I just start getting sick of it by this time. The plan is to get my new tv up in the basement and get on the treadmill this afternoon. Dog will have another neglected day.

  4. I've been hitting the Y 2-3 days a week since October and it looks like today I'll finally see if it's improved my snow shoveling. Unfortunately my weight is now up to an all time high of 211.

  5. Hola Runnahs!
I am sorry to report that this years event has been canceled due to current & expected weather conditions this week & on race weekend in Hyannis.

I was informed this afternoon that top Town of Barnstable officials including Police, Fire & DPW met and decided that the town roads & parking would not be safe or adequate for a large event & that this years event would have to be canceled.

There will not be a reschedule date.
